Nook Color gets apps like Angry Birds, Epicurious, Dead Space
The Barnes & Noble e-reader Nook Color is moving a step closer to being an iPad-like tablet. Starting Monday, April 25, B&N has released a bunch of downloadable apps for the Nook Color and has updated the software to include some fun new features. In the apps department, we are most excited about Angry Birds, the amazing physics-based game (learning is fun!); Dead Space, a scary first-person shooter survival game; the recipe app Epicurious; the Pulse app, which is a fun way to receive news; and Wine Ph.D, which we don't know much about yet, but we really like wine, so ...
Some of the apps are free. Most appear to cost between $1.99 and $4.99, with fancy ones like Dead Space as much as $7.99. Check out all the available apps here.
As for the software update, there is now Nook email, Nook Kids Read and Play titles and enhanced Nook books. The software update will be automatically downloaded to Nook Colors connected to Wi-Fi.
We can't wait to get started.

Well, I'd love to see my kids reading a lot as they grow up - traditional books or ebooks, all the same.
Now, as they are still young, I read aloud to them daily - only traditional books. However, NOOK Kids is indeed an exciting new development in the industry!
