Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' nubbins: 'They're not prosthetics. They're my bones'
Add one to the list of, let's just call them bizarre, statements made by Lady Gaga.In an interview with Harper's BAZAAR, Gaga addresses those little protrusions on her face and shoulders that we at Zap2it have dubbed "nubbins." When asked about the process of attaching the presumed makeup and prosthetics to her body, the singer has a surprising response.
"Well first of all, they're not prosthetics. They're my bones," she says.
"They've always been inside of me, but I have been waiting for the right time to reveal to the universe who I truly am," she continues.
Well apparently the "right time" happened to coincide with the release of her latest single. The timing may or may not have been intentional, as she states that the protrusions "come out when I'm inspired."
So... is that a nubbin on your face, or are you just inspired to see us?
Gaga explains that "we all have these bones" and describes them as "the light from inside all of us." Though she isn't concerned about her fans taking the route of body modification to emulate her new style.
"I haven't hurt myself," she defends. "It's an artistic expression. It's a performance-art piece. I have never, ever encouraged my fans or anyone to harm themselves, nor do I romanticize masochism. Body modification is part of the overarching analysis of 'Born This Way.' In the video, we use Rico, who is tattooed head to toe [including a skull on his face]. He was born that way. Although he wasn't born with tattoos, it was his ultimate destiny to become the man he is today."
Gaga also attests that she herself has never gone under the knife, so note to extremist Little Monsters -- Don't do that.
