Gotti biopic: Nick Cassavetes drops out; critics slam glorification of mob boss
Just when things were getting rolling with for the biopic about mob boss John Gotti -- John Travolta is on board, Lindsay Lohan is "in talks" -- director Nick Cassavetes is pulling out of the project. A rep for Cassevetes tells The Wrap that a scheduling conflict is to blame, but the announcement comes soon after several victims and others have spoken out against the movie, concerned that it will glorify Gotti and the mafia.
"It's like putting salt in an open wound," Scott Favara, the son of John Favara, tells People. His father accidentally killed the mobster's son, Frankie Gotti, in a 1980 car accident.
Gotti "destroyed our family," adds Favara.
