Did Miley Cyrus make Billy Ray relevant again? Kelly Osbourne speaks up

At a press conference Zap2it attended on Friday, a journalist insulted Miley Cyrus' fashion sense. "Excuse you!" shouted Kelly Osbourne immediately, offended.

During a "Piers Morgan Tonight" appearance, she defends her BFF Miley -- who she met while they filmed a movie together -- again. Only this time, it's not against a journalist who doesn't approve of Miley's side-boob, it's against Miley's own father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Billy Ray claims that "Hannah Montana" destroyed his family. "I'd take [doing the show] back in a second," he told GQ. "For my family to be here and just be everybody OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I'd erase it all in a second if I could."

Kelly is not having it. "I think that's a really inappropriate thing for someone to say, especially when what they did together gave that person their career back," Kelly says. "It's not fair to do that to your own child."

"I don't think he should have done that in print," adds Sharon Osbourne. "She made him relevant again."

"He might have meant it in a different way, but in black and white it seems so harsh," says Kelly. "I love Miley, she's a dear friend of mine. She works so hard, and that discredits everything she's done in her life not just for herself, but for her whole family."

Maybe the Osbournes should concern themselves more with their own freaky family and leave Billy Ray alone. If not for him Miley probably would've never gotten the part of Hannah Montana and he'd already said he wasn't going to do another show that would keep him away from home for long periods of time. He certainly didn't need the money. He already had plenty. The beneficiaries of Hannah Montana are Miley and her mother. You'd think Miley would show her dad more respect for giving her the chance to live her dream. Instead she throws it in his face by acting out ever chance she gets. When she does... Who gets the blame for it? Her dad. I doubt many care what an Osbourne considers relevant anyway.

Ditto.....I agree with Jo's comment. Couldn't have said it more true or better myself.
Most people comment and don't have a clue what goes on. Thank you for bringing it to light Jo!

I get annoyed at comments made about Billy Ray Cyrus like he was struggling in his career and was given a reprieve by Miley. Mr. Cyrus was instrumental in the success of Hannah Montana as anyone involved. his character was as much a father to Jackson as he was to Hannah/Miley and his participation with the other actors and guests helped to make what the show became. he already explain his comments about fame and what an animal it is and the dangers. give him a break!

I'm with the Osbournes! He shouldn't have brought his family matters up into the press. Saying it was Hannah Montana destroyed his family is so lame of him! He is the father, if there was something going on he should have stepped up like a parent and do something abt it to protect his daughter instead of blaming others when nothing going the way he wanted.

@Carina Adly MacKenzie, Kelly Osbourne used to work for BBC Switch. During that time, Ms. Osbourne interviewed the--at that time--15-year-old Miley Cyrus in London. They've been friends ever since. That was three years before the movie they performed in together that was shot in New Orleans from December 2010 to February 2011. So, your claim that the two met during the filming of "So Undercover" is wrong, and embarrassingly so since the BBC interview is readily available on Youtube. I just wonder how you get away with doing so little fact checking and research for your articles? You must have pretty low expectations of yourself.

Despite all the right-wing nonsense about Miley Cyrus being a wild child and out of control, I think the majority of the objective parents who've ever had a teenage daughter would have to admit that she is pretty tame when compared to the average. While I would imagine that Billy Ray knows more about his own daughter than we do, I think he let the overwhelming condemnation of a few things Ms. Cyrus did last year overwhelm him, and it's obvious he is ashamed of his own overreaction, as he's retracted all his negative comments about his daughter and the work they did together. Kelly Osbourne and her mom, Sharon, are obviously right and Billy Ray Obviously agrees with them or he would never have recanted the negative statements he made about his daughter in GQ. This time, the right-wing nuts who would have us cloister all of our teenage daughters come out looking like the failures they really are. And if truth be known, the daughters of those right-wing nuts give their parents just as many problems and have just as many teen-angst moments as any other teens do, if not more.
