Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull join Billboard Music Awards performance lineup

How will "The Voice's" Cee Lo Green top his outlandish peacock gear from the 2011 Grammys? We'll have to wait for the Billboard Music Awards to find out.

Green joins Nicki Minaj and Pitbull (Dale!) as the latest performers to be announced for the Las Vegas awards show. They join an already star studded line up that includes Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Keith Urban and Taio Cruz.

The formerly annual award show is making a comeback for the first time since 2007. This year will mark the first ever nationwide broadcast of the show via ABC, with "The Hangover: Part II's" Ken Jeong set to host.

The Billboard Music Awards take a different approach than many other music awards, looking holistically at the artist performance based on key fan interactions with music. Finalists and winners are chosen based on chart performance as well as social and streaming performance. There are 46 award categories, including top artist, album and song split up into just about every measure and genre you can think of.  

Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars are the leading category finalists.
