UFC fighter Jon 'Bones' Jones takes down robber, tweets a picture

twitter-bones-jones.jpgOK, this story is totally awesomesauce.

TMZ first reported that UFC fighter Jon "Bones" Jones subdued a robber with one of his fighting moves at a park in Patterson, New Jersey. Jones later took to his Twitter to confirm the story. He also did us a solid and posted a picture. What a guy!

Jones was preparing for his huge fight tonight (Mar.19) against Shogun Rua by meditating in a park when he heard a woman scream, "I've been robbed!" Jones chased the man for a while and when he caught up with him he knocked the guy's legs out from under him before placing him in a figure-four leg lock. Jones then returned the GPS device the man stole to the woman

Jones told TMZ, "It was a great pre-fight warm-up for me!" He later tweeted, "I caught him... coach Jackson finished him. It feels so good to help others. It gives me power and energy."

A little bit later, he updated his followers, tweeting, "The captain of the Patterson police department just called greg to Thank/congratulate us on a job well done."

So remember robbers, next time you try to rob someone in a park, a UFC fighter could be waiting to take you out.

yea, well, I guess when you're 6' 4" with an 89 inch reach, it's not so hard or scary to do. Kudos to him, but please don't act like Jon Jones is some hero. I mean, the only reason this doesn't happen more often is because most people aren't MMA athletes with a lanky body like his. Good for him, but I'd rather read a story about people that do this for a living. You know, police officers and firemen.

Not to mention, if he had a gun pointed in his face, I doubt he'd be so brave.

Niceee job wish more could do such a thing.

Yeah, it's so weird when a pop culture site posts news that have to do with popular athletes.

the person who said jon jones isnt a hero is typing that from his mommas basement. *****. im an mma fighter with only a 73 inch reach and i would have chased him also. too many aint **** ******* in the world today, thats why it is the way it is

as far as the guy that said he isnt a hero for doing this and said hed like to see police men and firemen doing their job ... if youd pay attention to things around you youd probably find out that paterson is actually going through alot right now ... like getting rid of about 150 police officers ... so the fact that a cop wasnt around at the time .... doesnt surprise me .... take your head out your *** dude

Great story, heart & soul, saw it on Steve Gorman's Sports Facebook page !

Doesn't matter how tall you are or what your reach is. What they did was brave. The guy they took out could have easily had a gun or knife, in which case your reach and size don't matter at all. Don't try to diminish what the guy did as unimpressive because of his height and reach. Please.

ok first, that youngster ain't takin' no stuff!!! god is the man. if yoy realize that all said is true, all things are possible through him!. now i know you just hatin' that's alright cause hters got to do they job ,so if ya'll be talkin' then i must be doin' sumthin'right!!!! check it check it.

That's because
