Phil Collins quits music due to health problems

phil-collins-getty.gifYou've got to give the guy props for knowing when to call it a day. Famed drummer and singer Phil Collins has taken his final bow, he says. After spending years bent over a drum kit, the Genesis rocker has dislocated vertebrae, hearing loss, and nerve damage that makes it impossible for him to hold drumsticks.

Collins says he won't miss the rock scene. He tells FHM, "I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely."

Currently, he lives in a small town in Switzerland, happy to distance himself from an increasingly image-driven industry. He can look back confidently on his career, which encompassed an impressive 13 hit singles, seven Grammy Awards, and even an Oscar for his work on Disney's "Tarzan."

icon... it's time for you to rest... you've done well.

wow it's about time for a little payback... His music has been making me sick for years.

I will miss you. You are a true artist that always kept your originality. I hope he knows that there are a lot of fans out there that will miss him dearly!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's given us his heart and soul for 30-some years. He's certainly earned a rest, but I can't imagine never seeing or hearing him again.
Hey Aaron, there's this device called a channel changer. Don't like it, don't listen. And how is his retirement from a phenomenally successful career payback? I call it a well deserved reward for a job well done.
