James Franco talks Oscars: 'The Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway'
We get it, James Franco. You weren't stoned during the Oscars. Whatever. Do you really have to blame Anne Hathaway?
Franco makes an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Friday (April 1) to swap Oscar hosting horror stories, while the "Your Highness" actor speculates on why viewers may have thought he was under an influence of some sort.
"I've thought about it, I think I know why," he ponders. "I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway. She has a lot of energy."
While we do suffer from blind love and loyalty to Mr. Franco, and we know he's kidding... Really? That's the excuse he's gonna go with?
Franco shouldn't feel too bad though, as Letterman recalls his less than stellar performance on Hollywood's biggest night in 1995.
"I was so bad that they talked for a while about shutting down the motion picture industry," Letterman jokes. "I was God awful."

I dont think ive ever seen him not look stoned some people just look that way.
James Franco cannot blame the ' high repuation ' at the Oscars on Anne Hathaway because after he met with Director Danny Boyle for the role in ' 127 Hours ', Boyle thought James was stoned.
When the going gets tough, people show their true colors. And, James has proven he has no problem throwing people under the bus to protect his behind. Remember, Franco did an interview during the pre-show and it was obvious he didn't want to be there. While Anne Hathaway was co-hosting, he did nada ( expect taking Oscar photos ). James is hating on Anne because his repuation has been sullied because of this debacle, and Hathaway came out of it unscathed. Most of the Oscar reviews were kind to Anne, but beyond horrible for James.
Now, this guy is planning to do a stage play with Nicole Kidman in the fall. Please, Franco doesn't have the stage presence nor the stamina to act on stage. He needs to get out while he can.
The guy always looks stoned. That's his look. Case and point look at the picture to the right.
everyone is overreacting to his comments! he was not "throwing anne under the bus", he was making a joke! and calling her energetic was a compliment, not an insult! people are morons.
