'Harry Potter': New 'Deathly Hallows' poster promises a face-off
If the newest poster for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" looks a little familiar, it's because you've seen it, oh, a few dozen times before. The poster is dominated by profile shots of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) staring each other down, with a wand between them (held by the Dark Lord, judging by the length of the fingernails). The tagline: "It all ends," with the movie's release date, July 15.
Look, we're excited about the final "Potter" movie -- like, really excited. But this poster doesn't really do a whole lot for us because it's such an overused visual. A few minutes of searching gave us similar head-to-head posters for the likes of "Lone Wolf McQuade," "Enemy Mine" and "Freddy vs. Jason." We're not sure if this is the kind of company Harry and Co. want to be keeping.
The conclusion of "Deathly Hallows" is going to be huge, and one slight misstep in marketing four months out isn't going to change that one bit. But we were kind of hoping for a little more than a standard action-movie look for the one-sheet.

I don't think most people bother noticing things like posters when it comes to sure things like this. Personally the only part of the poster that interests me is the statement that the film will be shown in 2-D theatres as I have no interest in seeing it in 3-D.
Yeah, you're definitely over thinking this -- it's just meant to be a vague but cool poster, not a piece of original art ;)
I also agree that you're over-thinking it. The poster does its job by telling the story in a succinct way. Plus, I love how dark it looks. Harry's face is all bloody.
HA! It looks like He's giving Harry the finger.
