Donald Trump wants to see Obama's birth certificate. Really?
Oh no he didn't, but he sure did. Donald Trump took this whole presidential run, aka "Celebrity Apprentice" promotional tour, to Wednesday's (March 23) episode of the "The View." And he made some statements that definitely caused a stir among the women."I think people want somebody now who is going to protect them," he says on the show. "And protect this country, because we're not going to be a great country for long if we keep going the way we're going right now."
Trump declined to name who he'd choose for his running mate as it's too early, since he plans to make his decision on whether he'll run for the presidency in June. How does he characterize what his presidential style will be? "Business with a heart," he says.
Probably the most divisive thing he said on the show was when he reignited the controversy over President Barack Obama's birth certificate. Even fellow Republican, co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, averted her eyes at the mention of it.
"I was a really good student at the best school," he says. "They make these birthers into the worst there is. Why doesn't he show his birth certificate?"
"If you go back to my kindergarten, my first grade," he adds. "People remember me. No one from those early years remembers him... There's something on his birth certificate he doesn't like."
That didn't sit well with co-host Whoopi Goldberg who said in her typically direct style, "I think that's the biggest pile of dog mess I've heard in ages... It's not because he's black, is it?"
"That has nothing to do with it," replies Trump.
Barbara Walters could see this fire needed to be put out and when they returned from commercials, Trump moved on to the conflicts on NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice."
"I'll tell you who gets beat up more than anyone I've ever seen in the history reality television," he says. "Your very close friend, Star Jones. NeNe [Leakes] is tough and so is star. When they go at each other it's unbelievable. They're both smart, they're both tough."
"NeNe is a big woman," he also says. "She's very intimidating. [The Star and NeNe conflict] makes Omarosa like a very kind sweet woman."
That may be true about NeNe and Star, but does Trump's birther comments make you reconsider his judgment?

It just confirms he shouldn't have anything to do with the presidency. He really needs to go away now.
Good on him for saying what a lot of us are thinking. Why doesn't Obama show us his birth certificate. And for Whoopie to bring up race, when it has nothing to do with his race. It's funny she says that, because he was elected into office because he is black. I am by no means racist, but if she's going to bring it up, then I have a right to comment on it. If it would have been JFK, or any other president, we would expect the same.
@Kenzie please, he was not elected only because he was black. If that were true Jesse Jackson would be completing his second term now. I doubt if you asked the average independent voter why they voted for Obama they would say "he's black so okey dokey!" There were a lot of issues in 2008.
Second snopes covered this http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthcertificate.asp
Also the major news outlets have covered this, forgive me if I have more faith in the NYT and the Economist than some chain e-mail.
I have a newfound respect for Donald Trump for having the courage to bring up what a LOT of people out there already think. Obama may not have been born in the USA, or he is definetly hiding something on his real birth certificate. I have ZERO respect for Whoopi now. How dare she bring up race like that. I guess we can't question anything about Obama without being called a racists by people like her. Good job Mr. Trump. You are of the same opinion as other folks including my doctor, dentist, teacher friends, fire fighter and police officer friends, etc. We aren't all a bunch of right wing racist nut jobs like miss Goldberg thinks.
Easy response, didn't a white president get elected too?? Pretty sure he is half black and half white. Race has nothing to do with the birth certificate. However, race definately played a role in the election, undeniable. I always respond, what about the white president that was elected in 2008, or is he only black?
Obama has not produced an original long form birth certificate. That is a fact. All he has produced is a computer generated, laser printed "short form" printout. What is he hiding and why has he spent well over 1 million dollars fighting the numerous lawsuites that have been brought against him to force him to produce the original document. I support Mr. Trump and Whoopi Goldberg is a hateful and despicable person for bringing up race.
Finally Trumps says what most media people are too afraid to ask.
Maybe Trump can trade his toupee for a tinfoil hat. If President Obama was not a citizen, do you really think not one investigation would have discovered it? Do you really think McStain, or Rove, or anyone from the RNC would not have revealed it? Trump only cares about his sagging Apprentice ratings and speaking engagement fees. Birther talk is nothing more than a flailing attempt to discredit the legitimacy of our President. Thank the universe Trump doesn't have any skeletons in his morally superior closet.
End the controversy-If he has nothing to hide, just show the darn thing!
Way to go Mr. Trump! What happened to equal treatment? If he was all white we could demand proof of citizenship, but because he is black we can't. What is the equal treatment in that? Donald, you got my vote because you are not a coward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and I'm sick of political correct cowards.
