Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines covers 'God Only Knows' for HBO's 'Big Love' finale: Listen now
It's been almost five years since Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines has released new studio material, and now it's here. But Maines' latest track actually isn't so new, it's a cover of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows." The song will be featured on the series finale of HBO's "Big Love" March 20, but will be available for purchase on iTunes Tuesday (Mar. 15).

I've always loved her voice so I like it, but I can understand how Beach Boys fans wouldn't. It was one of my favorite Beach Boys songs.
Hmmm...Not sure why this isn't being mentioned in the article, but didn't this girl get dumped by the Dixie Chicks a year ago? The Courtyard Hounds is the name of the new duo formed by the sisters from the group, and there's no mention of Maines on the CD. I get the impression that the two of them decided that at their age, cutting off their noses to spite Maines' face just isn't worth it.
OMG, that is BAD! What are these country singers thinking when it sounds like a good idea to cover a 40 year old classic pop song that everyone already knows and likes?? Maybe she could do Hotel California or Yellow Submarine next...
Danny is right about the new group too. She's out of it now, and that's probably why she's doing covers.
Despite the fact that some may not like this cover, there does need to be a correction: Natalie Maines was not "dumped" from the Dixie Chicks. The Courtyard Hounds is a completely separate, non-reactionary group formed by the sisters. If you know what you're talking about then you know the Dixie Chicks are still a band, and the Courtyard Hounds formation had nothing to do with Natalie.
I will forever struggle to understand why people who don't know what they're talking about will always tout (what they believe to be) truth. Get your facts straight people, and just enjoy (or not) the music.
C - Where's your proof of that? You sound like you're very easily led. They haven't recorded anything in over 5 years, their last tour was a total bomb because of Maines, their last album got ZERO airplay because it was a hate-filled rant of Maines, they're now doing separate projects, and there are no group projects in progress. How much evidence do you need?? Simple logical deduction should give you the answers you need without being told in so many words. Mindy McCready has never used drugs and never attempted suicide to hear her tell it. I guess you believe that too? Get a grip.
the last dixie chicks record sold millions and won grammys. who wouldn't like a 5 year vacation between jobs?
I like the Dixie Chicks and the Beach Boys, but the two should never be mixed.
