Corey Feldman slams Charlie Sheen, Hollywood double standard; says Corey Haim 'had more success'
In a soon-to-be published interview with Moviefone, actor Corey Feldman is critical of the Hollywood double standard, citing the fact that his acting friend Corey Haim was left out of the Screen Actors Guild and Academy Awards In Memoriam segments and yet if Charlie Sheen were to die suddenly, he would be included, despite Haim and Sheen having had similar careers (the hit TV show being the only difference).Feldman says:
Well I have to be completely honest and say, I'm not a huge fan of Charlie Sheen. I don't make it my goal to ever talk badly in the press, we're all in it together, that's the way I look at it, but Charlie in particular, especially the way that he's affected other people that I know -- point blank, Charlie and Corey started their careers pretty much together and Corey fought for his entire life to recover from those early experiences and to get his life together. And eventually did so, and yet he was snubbed by all his peers on both of the award shows where he should have been honored. Whereas Charlie has lived a very parallel life, the only difference being is that he had a hit TV show.
But if you look at the body of work that Charlie has done, I guarantee you Corey has had more success than Charlie has in his film career. And yet, if Charlie were to die tomorrow, I guarantee you, he would be included in the memoriam. That's just something for people to think about.
While we can see parallels between the hard lives and the drug problems, Sheen has a Golden Globe for his work on 'Spin City," plus two Globe nominations and four Emmy nominations for "Two and a Half Men." Feldman specifically cites the movie careers, but we also aren't sure we'd say Haim had "more success" than Sheen.
As Sheen himself pointed out, he was a main character in the 1986 Best Picture winner "Platoon." While the Oscar noms may have gone to co-stars Berenger and Dafoe, Sheen was widely praised for the effort.

I feel sorry for a guy like Feldman who is so blinded by love for his friend that he can't acknowledge the simple fact that the guy really never was a star. He was in some movies, sure, but the guy was never huge.
And, as much as it pains people to admit during these times of Sheen-gate, the guy was in some major movies (Platoon and WallStreet) and some beloved spoofs (Hot Shots), not to mention a #1 comedy TV show. I can't think of anything Haim did other than the Lost Boys.
Hey Corey me too i loved Corey Haim and i agree he should have been honored in these awards shows (and it is not Sheen's fault that he was not, blame the business powers that be folks).
But come on guy, Charlie Sheen had a more huge movie career, he was leading man in several well-known, praised movies and a huge tv star..i will always have a soft spot for Corey and would have seen him in other major movie projects but let's face it Sheen is/was more successful.
They did "Lucas" together and Haim was actually the star whereas Charlie had a supporting role. Speaking of "Lucas" whatthehell ever happened to Kerri Green?
How about the movie he was in with Charlie Sheen, Lucas.
I'm not going to argue on quaility of acting of either of these two men but Corey F is right about a Hollywood double standard.
Charlie Sheen is an additic & his bad behavior was ignored and or tolerated simply because he was on a hit TV show.
But he finally reached a point where that can't happen anymore.
Charlie Sheen had a major film career (starring roles in Platoon, Wall Street, Major League, Hot Shots, supporting turns in Eight Men Out, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) that he pissed away with doing several crappy movies in a row. He even had the misfortune of being in one of Clint Eastwood's few directoral clunkers (The Rookie).
Plus these days TV stars can command a lot of money if their shows are juggernauts as Two and a Half Men has proved.
Can you really compare that to Dream a Little Dream and The Lost Boys?
The fact that anyone has nominated Sheen for ANY award says more about the nominating committees' ignorance, rather than any shred of talent displayed by this egomaniac. You really think the "character" he played on 2.5 Men (and was nominated for) was any different than the guy walking on the set and living out his actual life, minus the coke?
Corey Haim was in some teen magazines when he was younger, but his impact on Hollywood, and the country as a celebrity, was nil. I think he was more of a curiosity to people than he was known for his acting talent. It's unfortunate he died, but I think Corey Feldman expects too much.
I've never been much of a Charlie Sheen fan, but he has had more of an impact, been more widely known, even before his recent... whatever it is he's doing.
I agree w/ Corey. It's such BS that Corey Haim was left out of the memoriam. And at least Corey tried to get his stuff together before he died which is more than I can say for Charlie. Corey was willing to admit that he had a problem w/ drugs & to try & get help for it. Charlie seems to not think that his "lifestyle" is a problem. He keeps saying he's a winner, but all I see is him losing things. He's already lost his job & kids & also seems to have lost his mind too. And if he's not careful, he'll eventually lose his life to drugs too.
wth is corey even tlking bout?!?! charlie has a golden globe which is a big award to win or even be nominated for if your an actor not to mention has had several movies in the past 10yrs or so actually make it to theaters while haim as far as im concerned the only award hes only won for acting was the best young actor award way back in the 80s and his movies in the past 10yrs or so were only low budget movies that were only shown at film festivals or have either gone straight to video, tv movie, or just been non existent, i cant stand charlie and i always liked corey haim but lets be honest now and not pretent that he was more successful then charlie even corey said his career flunked in the past 15/20 yrs
