Billy Joel memoir no longer being released; Returns payment to HarperCollins
Billy Joel's memoir was due out this June, but a snafu has delayed release... well, forever. HaperCollins announced on Thursday that "The Book of Joel," which had been written by Fred Schruers, was all set for release when the "Piano Man" singer suddenly backed out of his contract. The Hollywood Reporter states that Joel is expected to return his cut of the advance already received from the publishing house.
Joel told the AP that his cold feet came from the realization that he was "not all that interested in talking about the past."
Well if that doesn't make us interested in a Billy Joel memoir, nothing will. Wonder what sort of dirt is between those pages? We're willing to bet the book will surface in due time, with or without Joel's blessing.
