'Atlas Shrugged': Coming soon to a theater near you? If the Tea Party has anything to do with it, yes.

"Atlas Shrugged" the anti-big government novel by Ayn Rand that has become a beloved text for the Tea Party, is And no less a supporter than Dick Armey -- former House majority leader and now head of FreedomWorks, a Tea Party organization -- has made it his business to put the movie in as many theaters as possible. So far he's lined up 63 theaters out of the hoped-for 300.
"In a lot of ways this project reflects the ethos of the tea party," FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe tells the National Journal. "You had both Republicans and Democrats who felt rejected by the establishment, and the same process is going to happen with 'Atlas Shrugged': We're going to build a constituency of people who believe in limited government and individual liberty."
Okay, but it's a movie, so what does it have to offer besides cinematography reminiscent of the "Left Behind" series (the evangelical post-Rapture series of films starring Kirk Cameron)?
Well, the most recognizable actor in it appears to be Patrick Fischler, who had memorable small roles in both "Lost" and "Mad Men" (he was the comic who kissed Betty). The lead actors are Taylor Schilling, whose only credit worth noting is a stint on "Mercy" as Nurce Veronica Flanagan Callahan, and Paul Johansson, who you may (or may not) remember from "One Tree Hill" or "Highlander: The Raven."

I recognize Grant Bowler from his recurring role on Ugly Betty, and also Lost.
I hope it does better then "Avatar".

If you look up the roster of actors in this film on imdb, you'll find *plenty* of familiar names. Yes, there are no big leading "stars", but there are plenty of well-known, high-quality actors working on this project. It seems quite clear to me that Liz is letting her personal political politics interfere with her reporting.
Personally, I can't wait for it. Fandango-ing now.
Let's hope we can look forward to a film about the “making of” this remake. Maybe the director and screen writers will delight us all with what inspired Ayn Rand’s idea of the “superman;” A serial killer who dismembered a child and tossed that child’s corpse onto the street in front of her horrified Father. Rand exalted the serial killers “mindset” in her journals. Treat yourself to a Google search.
Ayn Rand was a sociopath, just like the serial killer who inspired her “superman,” and her “admirers” aren’t much different.
