Who is Iyanla Vanzant? Oprah Winfrey's rejected protege emerges

iyanla-vanzant.jpg.jpgDuring her 25th and final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Oprah has been revisiting key figures from the show's long and storied history. On Wednesday's episode, we'll see Oprah reunite with her one-time sidekick Iyanla Vanzant for an in-depth look at the dissolution of their professional relationship.

In case you don't remember, Vanzant was a frequent guest on "Oprah" in the '90s. An inspirational speaker and author of a plethora of self-help books like "Faith in the Valley: Lessons for Women on the Journey to Peace," Vanzant was one of Oprah's underlings before Dr. Phil, Nate Berkus, and Suze Ormand found themselves graced by her Midas touch.

In 2000, she was listed as one of the 100 most influential black Americans by Ebony Magazine, and Vanzant had her own show in 2001. It was canceled after 6 months, and she was seldom heard from again as a result of her estrangement from Oprah.

Apparently, the estrangement was the result of Vanzant making a demand of Oprah that seemed like an ultimatum, and Oprah does not negotiate with terrorists gold diggers anyone, because she's Oprah.

We can't wait to get the full scoop on Wednesday's showdown. It looks like things are going to get heated as Vanzant begs Oprah to hear her side of the story.

This woman always gave me the creeps. She came off as a woman most likely to lead a cult of idiots off a cliff (and she'd step aside at the last minute). Yikes!

My mother went to college with Iyanla, she always spoke of how she is a fame seeker. She warned me the spirtuality was a cover for her to promote greed. I saw her in a different light, little by little after this revelation.

Just one question, sweetcakes. What happened to "Acts of Faith"? I used to buy dozens and used them in my own "itty bitty" personal ministry. It was a simple start for you...and it was a simple start for many. Most of them were pretty ****** up but they heard the singing first and the "I went from the ghetto" second, and the rest is about taking care of "all u" instead of payin' da rent. I loved it...they loved it.. and even if it isn't the "you today"...it is THE THEM today. I'll give you a pass to not put them on your order sheet if you will give me a pass to order more copies. I get usually cassettes at Goodwill and such, because, believe me I ain't a rich *****...I used to be but I'm 60 now. I will just promise to put them to good use. Not too many because I am not too fast anymore! LOL! God bless you...I loved to see you and Oprah "Kiss and make-up"! We are all in this together, and I know I don't have to tell you that! Smooch! If you can find even one copy of Acts of Faith in the garage, I will copy them. Even If I see a smile as they listen....it gives me hope. Thanks and I love you I....T

Perhaps Oprah let her personal feelings toward this woman to color her professional actions. Seems like this gal walked her own walk and it irritated Ms O.

People love to jump to conclusions. Some people have filthy spirits and they rear their heads everyday. Just cause a person is a billionaire doesn't santize their behavior. I'm sure some of yall would love to kiss o's *ss for scraps, but you don't know what happened because you weren't there. I saw the interview and oprah was standoffish and to fully destroy the woman they showed how she currently lives. Then turned right around and told how Tavis Smiley financed the book project. These are neo-con games, your best bet is to keep your mouth closed about stuff you don't know about. I've yet to see half of you attack Eddie Long, so let's distribute the bullshit evenly.

I must wear high neck & long sleeved clothes, would love to find out where Iyanla got her 2 outfits for the Oprah show.
