Valentine's Day Song: Adam Young is Taylor Swift's not-so-secret admirer

adam-young-taylor-swift.jpgOh. My. God. Cutest. Thing. Ever.

Ahem, sorry, had to have a girl moment. This may come as a surprise to many of you, but Taylor Swift likes to sing songs about boys. We'll wait, while you recover from the shock of that statement.

Sometimes, those boys sing songs about Taylor, too. When Taylor wrote the accusatory "Forever and Always" about Joe Jonas, the JoBros fired back with "Much Better," a song about how Joe's new girlfriend, Camilla Belle, was... you guessed it... much better than Taylor.

This one is way, way sweeter than that.

Taylor was rumored to have penned her song "Enchanted" after meeting Owl City's Adam Young, and now, Young has confirmed those rumors by returning the favor. In the sweetest Valentine's Day gesture ever, Young gave the song an Owl City twist and posted his version along with a note for Taylor on his official website:

"Dearest Taylor,

I'll be the first to admit I'm a rather shy boy and since music is the most eloquent form of communication I can muster, I decided to record something for you -- as a sort of 'reply' to the breathtaking song on your current record. This is what I wanted so badly to tell you in person but could never quite put into words:

Everything about you is lovely. You're an immensely charming girl with a beautiful heart and more grace and elegance than I know how to describe. You are a true princess from a dreamy fairy tale, and above all, I just want you to know... I was enchanted to meet you, too.

Love, Adam."

Are you melting? We're melting. The accompanying song, which you can listen to here, is a tweaked cover of Taylor's "Enchanted." Adam's version includes the lyrics, "I'll spend forever wondering if you knew, oh Taylor, I was enchanted to meet you, too."

Awwwww.

Taylor's version goes, "Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you."

In Adam's reply, he says, "I was never in love with someone else. I never had somebody waiting on me, because you were all of my dreams come true, and I just wish you knew, Taylor I was so in love with you."

Again... Oh. My. God. Cutest. Thing. Ever.

Your move, Swifty. We're thinking a fairy-tale, saccharine sweet courtship, followed by marriage and babies and happily ever after and all that stuff. Gyllenhaal who?

How has no one commented on this?? This is so cute. I'd pick him. If Taylor's smart she'll pick him!

Girl gets around dont she?

This is so adorable! Take a lesson boys! She better step up to the plate because he won't stay single for long...

this iz craptastic. not cute. just lame.

This is the sweetest ever!!! Do hope she'll answer back with a new song and that they actually talk for real this time. hope it's true :)

Carina, you seem really taken with the events of the story, but it makes your choice of "saccharine sweet" seem like a bad choice of words. Saccharine is "sweeter than sucrose, but has an unpleasant bitter or metallic aftertaste" (as stated so well on wikipedia). When describing a person or relationship, it usually implies that the person or people are being fake or that something about them comes off less than genuine. Is that really what you intended?

Interesting, Carina--I'm actually a little surprised. Maybe it's me, but I didn't detect any sarcasm in the rest of the post, and honestly thought that you might have just accidentally picked a less optimal word. Now I need to read the article again with a touch more snark to the tone.

she ugly.

This actually made me teary eyed. It's so romantic! I love her, and now I love him! She deserves a happily ever after :)
