'The Bodyguard' remake in the works; Story gets a modern twist
"The Bodyguard" brought to life one of the most classic love songs ever, with Whitney Houston belting out "I Will Always Love You." So how does one top the Houston, Kevin Costner team from 1992's blockbuster?According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer have signed on to script a remake for Warner Bros. to be produced by Dan Lin.
The story will be a fresh take, with Costner's role changing to feature a former Iraqi war vet protecting his client from cyber-stalkers in today's world of Twitter, Gawker Stalker and Google Maps.
It's too soon for potential actors to be announced, but who do you think could do Houston justice? After Lady Gaga's Grammy acceptance speech, could this be her first foray into film? We actually kind of like that idea.
We here at Zap2it have some ideas for our own dream cast: How about Ryan Phillipe meets Rihanna? Or Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana?
One staffer is even hoping for a Betty White, Zac Efron pairing -- "Bodyguard" meets "Harold and Maude," anybody?

If we are going real life AA songstress who acts, then Beyonce. Now...the bodygaurd...some one who can do angsty tortured soul and LOVE. Ryan Gosling? ...Lee Pace? ...Charlie Hunnam? ...Jon Hamm? IDK. But I think they should cast actors who can sing as opposed to singers actually, even though Beyonce's all right.

i think tatum channing for the bodygaurd and leigh michelle from glee whould be perfect casting for the remake
We need to think about criterias. We need a powerful, popular female singer. She needs to be sexy and attractive. She shouldn't be too young or too old. She should be able to act. Those are the criterias we need if we would like to reproduce the old bodyguard and make it as much as a success as it was. Therefore among African American females, I proposed the following
1. Beyonce (sexy, very attractive, very popular, not too old, not too young, acting needs work but we can try)
2. Mariah Carey (sexy, attractive, popular but older, acting could be alright)
3. Alicia Keys (sexy, popular, not too old, not too young, could act)
4. Jennifer Lopez (sexy, attractive, popular, though she hasn't been singing for some time, can act, not AA though but not too old or too young)
5. Definitely not Rihanna, she is too young ans she is not that sexy and attractive. It's not like every man is dying to have her.
6. Jennifer Hudson (she can act, she can sing, but not that much of a bomb)
Whover you choose make sure that they can get people out of their homes and excited to watch, don't just target teens to watch, make it watchable for people of all ages. Also among white females
1. Not lady gaga please (she is a very good singer, not sexy at all)
2. Miley Cyrus (I like her but too young)
3. Pink (not a bad idea, but can she act?)
4. Taylor Swift (definitely no, too young)
5. Shania twain (why not, but she is not hot on the charts)
6. Britney Spears ( why not, not bad, could be a good idea)
For the male, a very attractive male will do for me. It's just if you choose a young actress, better choose a young bodyguard (I will then choose Tatum).
who said was going to the lead was going to be a singer or actress. they are changing this around anyway. maybe wont follow same script. she could be a senator or such. whitney's rachel was already done. channing tatum cant act either.
