Stephanie Seymour talks controversial pictures on 'Oprah'

Remember that time Stephanie Seymour and her son Peter Brant Jr. were snapped looking pretty close on a Caribbean beach? Well, we sure do and so does Oprah Winfrey. She asked Seymour about the controversial photos when the model appeared on the Feb. 4 "Ultimate Supermodel Reunion" episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Seymour explains the media had misinterpreted the pictures, "I've gone through a lot in the past two years, and I gained a lot of weight, and it really upset me. So I spent two days indoors, and when I came out and finally decided to just go outside, my son was so happy to see me."

Seymour says she and her son had no idea that the pictures were being taken and that they would cause such a controversy. "He was wooing me and gave me a big hug and a kiss, and we had no idea that that one second would be turned into something that could ever be thought of as inappropriate," she says. "He's my baby. He's a gorgeous young man, but he's my baby."

Peter Brant Jr. released a statement about the photos soon after they started making headlines. He revealed he was openly gay and said that his sexuality may be the reason why their relationship is different.

"I would just like to say that these pictures have been taken completely out of context. My mother and I are very close, as she is with all her children," he said. "She often hugs and kisses me and my siblings in a manner that is intimate. Any mother in the world does the same."

Seymour told Oprah she was a little upset that her son posted this message on his Facebook without telling her. "I was upset he did this without my knowdledge because obviously had he felt that strongly. I could have helped him," she explains. "I believe in ignoring all that nonsense. He took it upon himself and I think he felt like he had to defend his mommy."

That was a lame explanation. It's not your son's responsibility to "woo" you and make you feel better as a woman.

Grow up katie, what's the big deal. Americans can be so ridiculous!!

i saw nothing wrong with the pictures in the first place. sometimes a mom or son gives a big sloppy kiss to each other. (it's a big kiss with a hug and not even on the lips ppl!) big deal.

People are ignorant as hell!!! I COULD ONLY WISH MY SONS ARE THIS AFFECTIONATE WHEN THEY GET THAT AGE!!!

This picture is amazing and I ADORE their bond!

"Americans can be so ridiculous!!"

THAT statement is ridiculous! How embarassing for you.

As for Seymour, who cares? Can you imagine the papparazzi following the average Joe around and the awkward photos they'd take? Life happens.
