New 'Thor' trailer: The God of Thunder lightens up
The newest trailer for "Thor" features something previous ones have not: Kat Dennings.
Dennings co-stars in the movie -- due in theaters May 6 -- as Darcy, a co-worker and friend of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. And from the looks of things, she'll get to carry much of the movie's comic relief and ogling of Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Hemsworth, too, looks like he gets to play a few comic moments, mostly related to his adjustment to life on Earth.
And, yes, there's also a somewhat longer look of Thor's showdown with the Destroyer. But mostly, we were struck by the noticeably lighter tone in this trailer. It's a definite shift from the dark, brooding tone of the first trailer (and maybe a play to sell "Thor" to an audience beyond Marvel fans).
We're not saying that's a bad thing, necessarily: Two-plus hours of Norse gods uttering faux-Shakespearean speeches probably would get pretty tedious. But we are curious to see how director Kenneth Branagh brings what we've seen so far together into a cohesive whole.
