Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' video: Watch 'the birth of a new race' of little monsters

gaga-born-this-way-video-still.jpg"This is the manifesto of mother monster," begins Lady Gaga's latest music video. She then describes "a birth of magnificent and magical proportions," complete with plenty of feminine imagery. The video is about "the birth of a new race within the race of humanity. The birth of a new race that doesn't bear any prejudices." And, of course, the simultaneous birth of evil.

The 7-minute video is shocking in places, and we'd imagine that some parts of it may not be entirely MTV-friendly -- as is the case with many of Gaga's videos. Her videos have never been particularly tailored to the now-defunct TRL crowd, though. Gaga makes videos for her fans -- her little monsters --  and the internet is their most natural place.

"Born This Way" is best described as a short film. The song doesn't begin until more than two and a half minutes into the show, when Gaga appears clad in bra, underwear, and the prosthetics we've come to call nubbins. In some places she's shown with an eyeball on her chin. detailed skeleton makeup, and as a disembodied head.

What do you think, Little Monsters? Has your mother monster done you proud once again?

Insane! I love it. The whole thing is bonkers and I'm sure plenty of people will find it too strange for their tastes, but yet the overall message of "the pendulum of choice" betweeen good and evil is something I think we can appreciate.

I LOVE Gaga, but seriously drayke...that's what you think? Lady Gaga has topped herself and she's just making a fool of herself now. She used to be original with influences of Madonna, but now she thinks she thinks she's the girl in Madonna's Bedtime Stories. The zombie outfits are cool- yes. The mirrored images are cool- yes. But overall, it's like Lady Gaga is in her own delusional world of Gaga. Quite honestly, I like Avery and that 10-year old's cover better. They really get the point across that you don't need all the costumes to be beautiful - as they lyrics suggest. Have you seen those videos?

Horrible video, imo.

For film buffs --- the introductory symphonic music in GaGa's video is from Bernard Hermann's film score to Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 movie "Vertigo,"

"overall message"?!? I'm pretty sure what I just saw was all kinds of Satanic... Really... that was the most agenda pushing bs... and I'm not talking about the gay agenda. I knew this was an anthem for that but this is on a whole new level of spiritual bs that I feel she's been more subtle with in the past.

jbird... what exactly was "Satanic" in this video? Please tell us. I saw nothing in it that said "hey, let's worship Satan... Satan is cool". I saw nothing that said "Satanic imagery" to me (you're not counting the skeleton makeup are you?).

Not trying to ruffle her fans' feathers, but I believe what I'm saying. I'm no expert, but I've studied parts of the occult before. Here are just a few things I noticed but do some of your own research and prove me wrong or right.
1) that random shape of stars in the beginning that fades into the tilted cross thing is in the shape of Baphomet, the satan goat head
2) Monarch butterflies are everywhere - that's a popular occult symbol
3) the horns in her body
4) she makes devil horns pose with her hands
5) I just went back and checked where this was, but it sounds like she even says "satanic" at 4:39 in the video...
All this seemed obvious and I didn't even review the odd ball narrative in the beginning. I'm not trying to down an artist everyone loves, I can't stop singing "Telephone". She's good and talented, but I'm not going to buy into everything she's pushing because it seems obvious there is an other worldliness to it that is more than just trying to stay original and creative.

Sounds derivative of Madonna's 'Express Yourself'. In fact the chorus probably wrote itself because it follows the same iambic pentameter as 'Express Yourself'.

This is borderline plagiarism
