Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' gets a 'director's fan cut,' whatever that is

Paramount Pictures has come up with a fresh way to separate Justin Bieber fans from their allowances.His concert movie/documentary "Never Say Never" has only been in theaters for 11 days, but the studio and director Jon M. Chu are rushing a "director's fan cut" to theaters. The re-edited version of the movie will be in 3D-equipped theaters for one week starting Friday (Feb. 25).
"I realized I had an embarrassment of riches when I was I in the cutting room," Chu says. "This cut allows me to retain some of the best scenes from the original movie, while incorporating previously unseen footage and new material I shot during our extensive promotional tour on behalf of the movie. Justin's dedication to his fan base is unwavering and I was inspired as a filmmaker to attempt to provide them a unique experience that showed even more of his world."
The new material includes more of Bieber with his friends, some new performance scenes and footage of fans during the promotional run-up to the movie's release.
Paramount says the new cut includes "40 minutes of new Bieber footage," but the running time is only 10 minutes longer than the version that's already in theaters. That means 30 minutes of "Never Say Never" 1.0 is going by the wayside for the "fan cut."
Call us cynical, but we smell a pure-and-simple cash grab here.

This is irresponsible. The USA is still recovering from a recession, and yet there are movie studios trying to take more money from the pockets of young kids who (let's be honest) just don't know any better.
The kids were already ripped off once - why do it again? Why not charge $100 for the DVD when it comes out, too?
Goodness. They're getting ready to release his 1st album for the 4th time. First there was the album, then the deluxe version, then the acoustic version, now the remix version. Now they're already releasing the second release of his movie. Enough already.
This is kind of awesome- I can't remember ever hearing about this.
I'm pretty sure it'll work, too. I just hope they have to track box office separately so they can't pretend that the first attempt had staying power or had some kind of miracle comeback.
