Iyanla Vanzant reminds Oprah/us why she used to be on TV

In her own word, which she used several times during her Feb. 16 appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Iyanla Vanzant is crazy.

And "there's some crazy that a pill can't fix."

The former Oprah expert, who was banished from the program in 1999 after she revealed she was negotiating her own series with Barbara Walters and Buena Vista Television, finally gave her side of the story to her former boss. And it all boils down to misunderstandings and uninformed decisions.

Oprah admits she was grooming Iyanla for her own series, like the ones she's since handed to Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, but when Iyanla got the offer from Walters, she decided not to wait for Oprah to counter.

"You said that you'd been fasting," Oprah recalls from their confrontation, "that you had prayed, that god had spoken to you and that god told you that 'this is the anointed time, not the appointed time.'"

That phrase was tossed around several times during the interview -- but never really explained. What is explained is how Vanzant's ensuing series, "The Iyanla Show," only lasted one season.

"Their goal was to get me away from you," she says. When Oprah asks what it was like, Vanzant dissolved into what we can really only describe as a fit of emphatic convulsions.

"Just the thought about it, it just sends shivers through me," she says. "Let me put it this way, $27 million television show, and I didn't have an office -- because I allowed it."

Vanzant says the show failed because she wasn't ready for it, and the people around her didn't understand what she was about.

There you have it. Or do you? It doesn't end here. Iyanla and Oprah may have patched things up, but there's a Part 2 of the interview, including talk of suicide attempts, that airs Wednesday, Feb. 23.

I really loved Iyanla when she was on Oprah and still do!! hope she shows up somewhere on tv, i'll watch. i even watched her on Starting Over, she was good on that.

As Oprah would say…when we know better we do better. I wish I was given the opportunity to make my biggest wrong… right. I hope Vanzant is honest with herself and Oprah… and be true, for I really feel that if she is sincere; Oprah will help her in some way once again, but she must admit her wrong and fully OWN up to all her wrong without the “but” word. Vanzant is given the opportunity, and it is up to her to take advantage of it… I can only wish of a day.

Ilyana is ******* nuts and boring as hell.

Barbara Walters pulling the old divide and conquer, eh?

Iyanla Vanzant is mentally inept and embarrassing. She should not be given another chance. Her show was cancelled because it wasn't interesting. Run Oprah, RUN !!! Don't let her bring you down after all this time. No need to bring your success rate down to under 100%. Finish your reign on top.

Ya'll just haters thats all, leave Ms Vanzant the hell alone everyone has faults.

I felt a connection with Iyanla from the first minute I saw her, I could feel her spirit reach through the tv at me. I am white and although, I did go and read and google her. I do see her as a spirit that meant no harm to Oprah, and I had no idea that there had been a problem for Oprah and her, in the spirit world, money should never be an issue. NEVER. I will love her always. I will watch the next episode and I do pray that there is a definate healing. I loved the show where all the women came to make their lives better, and Iyanla was excellent on that show. I love Oprah and I love Iyanla. Money does make things ugly.

Iyanla is crazy and she seems to be a big liar she knew what she was doing and it didn't workout with Barbra she wants to crawl back to O. She had her chance and ruined it thats what she gets for trying to jump out in that water so fast instead of waiting like the others .I dont feel she's sincere. An Oprah see past all her BS ..

Ha! moment. I couldn't belieive I
saw those two together yesterday.
I had and experience with Iyanla. She raped my soul and I did all but breakdown. She was out to get hers at any course. I am one of the many that she used and nearly destroyed. It is my contention that people don't change and Oprah is no fool. She begged Oprah on national TV for another chance and laid back and laughed. Oprah heard her and said no. I don't need another chance, but a chance, and I mistakenly thought Vanzant could help.

This is my first time blogging anything, but I had to write this, the show has been the talk of the day at work...we were all so disappointed after watching yesterdays show, I started to question if Iyanla really wrote any of her books or is there a ghost writer hiding out somewhere. The way she was talking and acting was crazy, crazy, just crazy..What happened to faith in the valley (HELP)
