Grammys 2011: Barbra Streisand slows things down with 'Evergreen'
You want to know who doesn't need egg-wombs, muppets or acrobatic ninjas to bring down the house? Barbra freaking Streisand. Music's anointed one made a rare appearance on the stage at the Grammys, right after her "A Star Is Born" Kris Kristofferson gave her a sweet little intro. Streisand, on hand to receive the MusiCares Person of the Year honor, sang the theme from their movie, "Evergreen." And as much as everyone seemed to enjoy it, we were sort of hoping for something a little more -- buoyant? (Fatigue really starts to set in after two hours of kudos and watching Justin Bieber lose.)
We know how she can make it up to us, though.
Next time you find yourself performing on live television, Babs, give DJ duo Duck Sauce a call for a collaboration on their appropriately titled song... "Barbra Streisand." We're sure you already listen to it in the shower every morning anyway.

Barbra Streisand was the only good thing that happened on the Grammy awards. She was the one thing worth listening to. If only people could have talent like that again. Our world would be so much nicer. Thank you, Barbra for giving me one great moment--I stayed with the Grammys only because I knew you were going to perform. You never let me down!
Barbra and Mick were both awesome and they didn't have to be half naked and act stupid. That's real talent because they don't need a gimmick.
@ barb i respect your choice of music, barbs is indeed a gem.
In contrast, music is indeed a universal language, a wide valley of hymns, tempo and language and this is basically what the Grammys is all about. Acknowledging different types of genres; from pop to rock to latin to gospel to country to classical.
LOVE Barbra - Love her!! And I was thrilled to see Mick Jagger - but SO disappointed in his song choice...
Oh well - they were the best moments in the Grammys. Sorry but I don't get Usher/Bieber and the ridiculous L. Gaga - I saw no talent there at all.
I agree Carrie!
I thought to myself, if Justin Bieber wins an award for that one played out song Baby, I will not watch the Grammys ever again! He has one song and he sings it five different ways. I want him to go away now! There is way too much talent out there and Justin has very little. He is just marketed to DEATH!!! Loved Bruno Mars and BOB! My favorite was the opening with all the ladies giving tribute to Aretha Franklin. Amazing!!
I thought Barbra was way off on her Grammy performance. In her "Evergreen" solo she consistently replaced her high notes with lower, mid-range replacements. She looked heavy, swollen and her hair was ugh! Babs is showing her age, both vocally and physically. She should stay in recluse mode and let us remember her in her prime, legendary singing past. Her "poorformance" last night only makes me even less inclined to have to put up with her political rants, hypocrises and opinions.

I love Barbra - no matter what.
Yes, I agree - she was a bit off last night - but maybe she wasn't feeling well. I think that because I watched her on Oprah sing "Evergreen" just recently, and she was PERFECT - much better than last night. I bet she was not feeling well. :0(
I thought the same. She just had performed at Oprah & sounded amazing. Here, she was having a bad night. If you saw after the song, she was mouthing how nervous she was. Her jitters got her to be sure because she can still bring it. Dress, hair & voice not as good as usual, which made me feel bad for her because that was not a night for that to happen.
for goodness sakes- she is 68 years old. singing at that age is extremely difficult and she can still do it. So she does not have high notes- that is to be expected. She still has a beautiful voice and knows how to interpret a song to perfection.
