Golden Globes deny asking Ricky Gervais back: 'Nice try, Ricky'

Earlier Tuesday (Feb. 1), Ricky Gervais posted a Golden Globes Diary to his blog detailing the week leading up to his now rather infamous second time hosting the annual awards show. One of the very last things he said was, "I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it. The ratings
went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. I
don't think I should. I don't know what I could do better ... Two
seasons is enough." Hollywood Foreign Press Association head Phil Berk tells the AP there was no invitation extended for Gervais to three-peat, saying, "There is no truth to this rumor. We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky."
We are certainly bummed to hear the invite is not on the table because we think his two hosting jobs were delightful. But we would like to offer up a suggestion -- Robert Downey Jr. as the next host.

Ricky lied what a suprise...
I don't think Ricky lied at all. I just don't think the HFPA wants the word out that they asked Ricky to come back. I think they wanted to wait for a few months until this all dies down, and then announce his return.
Trust me, the HFPA wants him back. The Golden Globes never really existed until Ricky got there.
I loved RG hosting style at the GG. I hope he will be the permanent host of the GG. RD jr is not funny, and would be a bad choice to host next years GG. RD jr. has had this smug atitude over the last few years that I just do not like.
My vote would be for Tina Fey and Steve Carrell co-hosting, although they'll probably be nominated but that didn't stop NPH at the Emmys.
