Fantasia Barrino 'boycotted' Grammys over Aretha Franklin tribute, No one noticed

fantasia.jpgUm, if you have to call into a radio show to announce that you boycotted the Grammys after they already happened, doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of boycotting?

"American Idol"
alum and 11-time Grammy nominee Fantasia Barrino called in to BET's 106 & Park on Monday, Feb. 14, to reveal to all the people who weren't wondering why she didn't attend the Grammys on Sunday, Feb. 13.

The singer was hurt that she wasn't asked to be a part of the Aretha Franklin tribute, which Christina Aguilera, Yolanda Adams, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch and Martina McBride participated in:

"I'm going to be very honest with you. You know I wasn't at the Grammys last night. I'm kind of going through my own little thing. ... Last night they were honoring someone who is my idol, Aretha Franklin, and there is no way I could have sat there and not got the happy feet and wanting to jump on the mic because she is my favorite so I felt like, you know, at the end of the day I should have been on that stage so, I kind of did my own little thing last night."

Did you hear that, Fantasia fans? You can call off your searches, she was just at home on music's biggest night because a tribute shouldn't be about the person being honored; It should just be about the people honoring her apparently.

The good news is that Barrino won her first Grammy that night for Best Female Vocal Performance in the R&B genre for her song "Bittersweet." What was her reaction to finally winning after 11 nominations?

"Actually I scared my daughter because I just bust out and started crying, and she thought something was wrong with me. You know it's been a long time coming... at the end of the day its been a long time coming for me," she says. "I have been through a lot of things so when Brian called me (my manager accepted the award for me), I just bust out started crying because I felt like, man, I wasn't gonna stop until I got one and I'm still not going to stop and you know this has just given me motivation to do my own thing."

One word for her LOSER

when exactly did fantasia use the word "boycott"?

"No one noticed"
LMFAO.

You guys are getting better.

when exactly did Fantasia use the word "boycott"?

Well, one thing's for sure...She definitely can't sing with the likes of the women they did ask to perform the tribute. She can certainly screech, though.

Worst Idol winner, alongside Taylor Hicks.

True Story, that is certainly you're opinion, to which you are entitled - I personally believe the 3rd season of AI to be the best - the finale win of Fantasia to be the most inspiring - and I believe she is an amazing, soulful, original and extremely talented singer

you got to be kitty me fantasia the best america idol winner ever she would have blow every one of the women in that category out the water

She was jealous that Jennifer Hudson was doing it!!!!! LAME!

Fantasia still should have shown up, sometimes we don't get an invitation to the party, and you can't take it personally! However, Fantasia was the most inspiring winner ever for me on AI. That was the best season I cried when she cried and I identified with that win. She has nothing to be jealous of. Jennifer Hudson has her style which I love as well, and Fantasia has her style. Simply put, they both are awesome and will not always get an invitation to the "party"!

Fantasia was the WORST winner of that rigged show ..my favorite season was 3 as well but only because i got to hear Lisa Leuschner..now she was fantastic!
