Britney Spears may be sued by The Bellamy Brothers
The Bellamy Brothers think Britney Spears plagiarized one of their songs and they are going to hold it against her. Sorry, that was too easy. The Bellamy Brothers released a song in 1979 called "If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body," which included the lyric: "If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?" In Brit Brit's new song, "Hold It Against Me," she sings "If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?"
Because of that one line, the Brother are planning to file a multimillion dollar lawsuit against Spears for plagiarism. (Crazy thought, but shouldn't they file it against the songwriter?)
David Bellamy, 60, explains, "Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney. She's a talented gal. But professionally we feel completely ripped off." While we don't see any resemblance between the two songs whatsoever, we are horrified by his use of the word "beef."
Take a listen to the two songs and tell us if you are hearing something we're not:

Over one line?
Groucho Mark used to say that line. So how can they sue because she paraphrased a famous quote that they didn't even create?
it's all about the money... they won't even win... tsk tsk...
einna, no questions anymore, because there will be no trial that will happen.
c'mon, that line has become part of pop culture. i've heard it so many times, it's seems like there's a free-for-all on that line by now. they should get over it.
shut up JayDubb! as if you have a talent!
One line won't win them anything. If one line could win a guy money in court, these talentless, garbage spewing hip-hop artists would be sued left and right. And I haven't seen many, or any lawsuits filed against them. But the author is right, they should also go after the song writer, because let's face it, Britney Spears doesn't write her own music and she doesn't have the intelligence to know what is given her, she just sings it.
The double entendre is relationally identical. Winner for the Bellamy Brothers.
Groucho Marx didn't SING the phrase. Whether his estate has a claim against the Bellamy Brothers is irrelevant to the instant question, though it is most likely time-barred.
of course not!!! it is totally different! and JayDubb, maybe you have the intelligence, how about singing a song or writing one that will make you famous?
