Billy Ray Cyrus calls 'Hannah Montana' comments 'explosive'; Trying to 'mend' his family

Shortly after Billy Ray Cyrus' not so shocking "Hannah Montana" digs in GQ (that we're only shocked to hear him openly admit), the famous TV dad is taking a step back.

Cyrus told the mag that the Disney empire on which his daughter Miley built a career is what tore his family apart.

"That damn show destroyed my family," he said. "I'd erase it all in a second if I could."

On Wednesday (Feb. 23), the 49-year-old tells People that his comments were "explosive, and unintentionally so.

"It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now," he admits. "My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier."

Part of that mending surely involves a break from the media, as he pulled out of appearances on "The View" and "Good Morning America" this week.

People also reports that Cyrus is currently spending time in Los Angeles with wife, Tish and daughter, Noah. He and Tish filed for divorce last fall.

Here's hoping the family can pick up the pieces and begin moving forward.
