Barbara Bush endorses gay marriage in new PSA

barbara-bush-gay-marriage.jpg
Barbara Bush, one of former President George W. Bush's twin daughters, is the latest celebrity to endorse same-sex marriage.

She appears in a PSA video for gay rights group the Human Rights Campaign, as part of a series featuring high profile New Yorkers urging legislation to legalize gay marriage in the state.

"I'm Barbara Bush and I'm a New Yorker for marriage equality," she says. "New York is about fairness and equality and everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love. Join us."

This is Bush's first public comment on the issue, but she joins her mother as one of the growing number of Bush era officials to support the cause.

Am I the only one who saw the headline and thought it would be the former First Lady and not one of Dubya's daughters? Now THAT would have been something. A twentysomething endorsing it is not a big deal. Many under 35 are pretty hip to it...or at least don't care enough to vehemently oppose it.

"she joins her mother as one of the growing number"

Reading is fundamental, PJM.

But she couldn't do this when her father & Carl Rove were mounting a witch hunt so gay marriage would be banned in as many states as possible.

And they succeeded in more than they lost.

Seems like it was fine when her father & his administration had over half the states put a BAN on gay marriage on there state ballots so he could get elected a 2nd time.

Gay marriage was the Bush Administrations go to cause to win elections.

And NOW she speaks up.
How noble.

Overturning all of those laws in all of those states is going to be almost impossible for those who really want to get married.

Those people could of used her support back then.
