Alex Pettyfer mulls 'Hunger Games,' every YA film franchise ever
If you have a vaguely romantic science fiction book targeted at teenage readers, odds are Alex Pettyfer is down to play your male lead in the film adaptation.
The star of February's big screen take on "I Am Number Four," Pettyfer openly discusses the possibility of joining the upcoming "The Mortal Instruments" movies. And now? "The Hunger Games," obviously.
Speaking with J-14 in -- we kid you not -- a Paramus, New Jersey, Hot Topic, Pettyfer says he's been approached about playing Peeta Mellark in the movie version of the best-selling book trilogy.
"I met with Lionsgate," says Pettyfer. "I think Gary Ross is a great director. I have [read the books]. I'm a very big fan. I just hope they can conquer the movie."
Attempts to conquer the movie start very soon. With a March 23, 2012, release date already lined up, and filming set to begin this winter, expect casting confirmations any day now. Would you want to see Pettyfer as Peeta -- or are you still stuck on him playing Jace in "The Mortal Instruments?"

NOOO! what is he snorting? so he's dumping THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, a role tailor made for him for THE HUNGER GAMES to play peeta? i'm sorry but he's the complete opposite of perfect for PEETA'S role. he's got nothing going for him except his blonde hair! he's cocky and arrogant and too masculine.. perfect for JACE! JAAAACE! PEETA IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING JACE IS. all they got in common is the blonde hair. i'm very protective of who they cast as PEETA and alex has got too much swagger to play the humble boyish lovable eternally good PEETA. damn you gary ross if you cast alex! YOU WILL ANGER TWO FANDOMS. the mortal instruments will hate you forever for taking alex (and trust me, TMI and THG have more or less the same fans) and THG fandom will hate you forever for casting the wrong PEETA! CAST HUNTER PARRISH GODDAMIT.

peeta needs to be the type of guy whose none threatening presence can easily have him fall into 'the friend zone' at first impression. that doesn't mean dorky, ugly or awkward in the slightest.. cute, decent, loyal, friendly, easy going, well adjusted, hard working, even tempered, capable of empathy, 'average' in pop culture world and sadly rare in reality.

If he turns down the Mortal Instruments for that Seventh Son movie - um, hello, he's seven years older than the character was supposed to be - or the Hunger Games, I'm going to be pissed. He's not Peeta at all. He's way too pretty and LEAN, NOT STOCKY, and cocky and.... Ugh. No. I love him to death, but not for Peeta. Please, please, choose Jace. He's PERFECT for the role. Over my dead body will he play Peeta. He looks old enough to be my Dad. Peeta is only 16 years old. I don't like it. I don't like it at all. Who does he think he is to come out of no where and play Peeta???????????????????
No, just no. He has nothing at all that makes people scream Peeta, although the fact that he's possibly dumping the mortal instruments for some other thing pisses me off, so that relates him to Peeta, the most annoying person on a fictional planet. Jace on the other hand, is exactly him. EXACTLY! He's how I picture Jace, and if he doesn't except the role for him, I'm not going to see any of his movies and will seriously rethink going to see City of Bones at all.
I can't really imagine Pettyfer decorating cakes.
WHY ON EARTH would he be in there for peeta? cause hes blond? thats ridiculous. honestly he's really nothing like jace in character or appearance and hews much closer to Jace. ill be annoyed but understand if he does the seventh son over city of bones (its a uk series he grew up with) but if he chooses hunger games instead, thats just ignoring your fans desire and being placed there by movie execs not because your best for the role but because your hot and the new hollywood it boy.
