Willow Smith in talks to star in 'Annie' remake, Jay-Z to work on music

willow-smith.jpgThe Smith children and reboots seems to be a winning combination these days.

Their son Jaden Smith starred in last summer's "The Karate Kid," which made more than $350 million, and now Willow Smith is in talks to star in a remake of the 1982 movie musical "Annie." Variety reports Will Smith (who produced "The Karate Kid") is currently in talks with Sony and is eyeing an unexpected, but extremely awesome, music supervisor for the film: Jay-Z

Jay-Z signed Willow to his Roc Nation label last year and has history with "Annie." Jay-Z sampled the musical's song "Hard Knock Life" for his single "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" and has said he connects with movie's rags-to-riches theme.

Not much is known about the proposed reboot and whether or not it would be a contemporary update of the classic story, although we think it would be pretty cool to see little orphan Annie whip her hair. "Annie" originally starred Albert Finney, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters and Aileen Quinn in the title role.

What do you think, Zappers? Would you like to see Willow Smith star in an "Annie" remake?

No. I don't like this type of PC crap. Why recast a white character to be played by a black actor? I bet a lot of people would be complaining if they re-made The Matrix and had a white actor play Morpheus or re-made Pulp Fiction and had a white actor play Jules Winnfield.

This has got to be a joke... the smith's a such hollywood ******... pushing their little no talent kids into the business

Sorry, but "Annie" is fine on its own. No need to remake such a wonderful film.

Annie would not be Annie without a little red headed girl!!!!

Annie could be black (there are black redheads) or white, I don't care. HOWEVER: I don't like Will Smith buying the rights to things to make star vehicles for his kids. C'MON DUDE. Let them succeed on their own talent.

Take a chance, this may work for this generation and lets see how this turns out.

why there are some parents who push their kid to a thing that is not yet appropriate at a very young age. OMG!
this kid is trying hard. not yet the right time sweety.wait for your time til' you reach the right age. you're making yourself a trying hard.
