Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails wins Golden Globe for 'The Social Network' score

Trent Reznor likely never imagined himself winning a Golden Globe while he was rocking out as the Nine Inch Nails frontman, but win he did at Sunday's 2011 Golden Globe Awards for his work with partner Atticus Ross on "The Social Network's" original score. His acceptance speech was brief - possibly because he said all that he really needed to say on Twitter with a quick "Holy Sh*t!" update.
His nomination came as a surprise, because "The Social Network" score only qualifies as a score because it lacks lyrics. Unlike most scores, it lacks a recognizable theme. It doesn't add to the on-screen drama so much as it hangs back and allows the drama to stand out on its own.
It's hard to believe that the man who wrote "Pretty Hate Machine" in 1989 would ever be rubbing elbows with the likes of Jeremy Irons, but he's come a long way. His first ventures into the soundtrack world were with video games - with Nine Inch Nails he scored "Quake." He stepped out on his own for the first time with "The Social Network."
Reznor and Ross are currently working with "The Social Network" director David Fincher again on the score for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Hey Beth, I don't know if you're being sarcastic....But Trent Reznor actually composes music and has been doing it since the 80's. Therefore he is way more than qualified than most, and he's definitely more qualified than some B.S. rapper or R&B singer who sings other people's written work.. Take your headphones off your head little girl.
