Suze Orman and Oprah corner Octomom: 'Everybody already hates you'
If you missed the Jan. 14 episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," please accept our apology. Because it was a doozy.
Oprah and Suze Orman staged a rather grueling financial (and personal) intervention with "Octomom" Nadya Suleman for almost the entire hour. In addition to helping her get on the path out of fiscal ruin, they got her to admit she's a recovering baby addict who regrets having all those kids.
"If I knew then, what I would know now," says Suleman, "they wouldn't be here."
This, of course, comes only after being cornered by Orman, who wants her to know that people won't hate her any more for admitting it. "Everybody already hates you," she screams.
Orman's advice to get out of debt is to pray and do a "respectful" reality series -- it's the only way she sees her helping herself now. This doesn't sit well for Suleman, who doesn't want to be a celebrity or be in front of cameras. Odd.
And if you're wondering why Suze up there is looking so confused, it's because Suleman made an inadvertent lesbian pass at her. "I want women to like me," says Suleman, turning to Orman, who replies "don't look at me." Gawker has phenomenal clip.
"That's another show," says Oprah, laughing. No, that's a whole other network.

I believe Suze Orman was very condescending and probing to Octet Mom. She did not disserve to be ridiculed and embarrassed by Suze Orman on national television. Lets not forget where Suze Orman came from, when she was poor and homeless herself at one time. She may know her subject, but I do not want to see her on Opera nor would I watch her. She had no point when she was asking Nadya questions, just wanted to embarrass her. Suze Orman should never be invited back on your show.
The lesbo channel orman, rosie and chaz.....wtf
I was very concerned when Suzie insisted that this mom look after the 14 children on her own. Number one the safety of the children would definately be an issue at the todler stage. One person cannot safely manage 14 young children. Secondly if she does I believe she will become ill very shortly, if she is not already. 24 hour a day care is not possible by one person and if she becomes ill where will the children be then. My advice is follow your heart and your body. Your body and mind will tell you when you are too exhausted to be patient to the children then you must have help. Even a high school student or two would be a great help in the evenings when you are the most tired and they would not be as expensive. Do not try to do it all on your own, you do need help but find reasonably priced help. Remember not everyone dislikes you we do not have a right to dislike anyone. Chin up, dont be afraid to ask for help. And keep working out you do need a few minutes to your self everyday and in your situation it will almost be impossible to do.
Suze is a disgusting human being the way she berated and bullied this poor woman who is obviously desperate. I don't agree with Nadya's decisions but I certainly don't hate her. Close to hating Suze though. Shame on you Oprah!
Suze Orman is the one everyone hates...she is obnoxious!!!
I cannot believe how Suze when for the jugglar today on the Oprah show. She is truly a mean and unhappy person. I felt so much compassion for Nadia. She has some real issues and Dr. Phil should have been the one to deal with her NOT Suze or Oprah..Shame on both of you.
Shame on you Oprah! What you allowed to happen on your show today with Suze Orman's rant re: Nadya Suleman was disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself !

I thought the show was likely the worst of any Oprah has ever made. For starters Suze brought nothing to the table. She obviously failed miserably to help Suleman out of her financial straits. So why invite her onto the show then? It couldn't be for her ability to analyze any other aspect of Suleman's problems, as Suze seemed to forget that she used to have life issues of her own - but she didn't do anything to give supportive, nurturing, charitable, or even good advice. Instead she gave her totally stupid advice about not getting help with the kids!
Then Oprah went into an inquiry about Suleman's appearance (eyelashes, lips, cheek implants...), trying to make the point that Suleman must be craving attention. But even after Suleman educated both her and Orman that she's only had a ****** augmentation, Orman continued the pursuit saying how she understands an addiction to the limelight because she has the same problem. Geez Louise! How can that woman' not
But despite all of Oprah
I was so disappointed with Oprahs show today I actually shut off my TV. I couldn't be a part of that awful need Suse seemed to have. So sad Suse Orman had to do that. She needs to appologize to a lot of people. And maybe just maybe she may get some human respect back.

Then Oprah went into an inquisition about Suleman's appearance (eyelashes, lips, cheek implants...), trying to make the point that Suleman must be craving attention. But even after Suleman educated both her and Orman that she's only had one common br augmentation, Orman continued the pursuit anyway, saying how she understands an addiction to the limelight because she has the same problem. Geez Louise! How could that 'woman' not recognize, understand and empathize with a problem that she's shared, and then totally mis-read when the guest does NOT share a problem that she has. It just goes to show you that Suze is a one trick pony, and should stick to giving (limited) financial advice.
But as I watched this train wreck of a show, I waited. I waited for Oprah to do the right thing. Here's Suleman baring her soul to the world, and not for her own purposes, but because she was asked onto the show for our entertainment and to make Oprah some more money. And it's obvious that Suleman has made some life-changing bad decisions - which she confessed to on the show. And it broke my heart to see how hard it was for Suleman to say how much she loves her kids, but admit that she wouldn't have had the invitro if she "knew then what she knows now".
So I'm thinking, here's Oprah, one of richest people around, and who's supposedly a charitable soul (heck, how many cars and vacations does one need to give to undeserving audience members to prove that?). So surely, Oprah's going to go there... Surely she's going to go philanthropic on Suleman. Surely she's going to do more than make a spectacle of her, and offer her some lame advice. Surely she's going to do something to REALLY help this woman to turn her life around and the lives of all of those kids. But No!!! There's no 'Makeover: Home Edition' style charitable creshendo - just a "thanks for coming on the show and we know you're going to be fine". INCREDIBLE!
I'm not saying bad choices should be rewarded. But Suleman's bad decision to go on the show rewarded Oprah. And I know Suleman may have been paid a stipend for her appearance. But this woman and her children need "real" help - and obviously not the kind of help one can find from Oprah Winfrey.
