Sargent Shriver funeral: Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama help Maria say goodbye

Mourners gathered Jan. 22 for the funeral of 95-year-old Kennedy in-law Sargent Shriver.

The father to former NBC News correspondent and wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, services for Shriver took place in Potomac, Maryland. ET reports Oprah Winfrey, former President Bill Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama were among those who joined the family.

Shriver was a businessman, lawyer and politician, but he was perhaps best known for his long marriage with his late wife, John F. Kennedy's sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who predeceased him in 2009.

Following services, Shriver will be transported to Hyannis, Massachusetts, where he'll be laid to rest in the same cemetery as his wife.
