Ricky Gervais on 'Piers Morgan Tonight': 'I didn't do anything wrong'
The Golden Globes are receding into the awards-season twilight, but people still seem to be talking about Ricky Gervais' performance as host. That includes Gervais himself. He's the guest on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" Thursday (Jan. 20), and he tells Morgan in the clip below that despite criticism that he was too mean to the assembled Hollywood luminaries at the Globes -- the head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association called his remarks "unacceptable" -- he's not feeling particularly apologetic.
"I don't think I did anything wrong," Gervais tells Morgan. "Honestly, you know, those were jibes at these people, and I'm sure they've got a sense of humor."
Morgan asks Gervais if he was "mocking" the celebs and their various problems, but the comedian insists he wasn't -- he was only "confronting the elephant in the room."
"I've got to be an outsider there. I mustn't come out there as everyone's mate and schmooze -- that's nauseating," Gervais says. "I've got to come out there and I've got to roast them."
Take a look at the clips below; the full interview airs at 9 p.m. ET/6 PT on CNN.

Good for him for not cowering and caving into apologetics. And he's right, it's nauseating to have a host that's trying to play it safe. All of his targets are celebs that should, by now, have thicker shells for roast-like humor. I thought his opening monologue was both hilarious and over the top, and that's exactly what I expect from awards shows.
Piers morgan. Another typically inbred backward british scum that America is supposed to buy to support its inbred backward island empire of dumb heinous nothing liars and its inbred backward personal practices and its inbred and heinous political and antiscientific crimes. Let's get back into culture, shall we. I think so, and I'm not the only one.
