Report: Robin Williams cast in 'The Dark Knight Rises' as Dr. Hugo Strange

Casting rumors keep trickling in for "The Dark Knight Rises," the upcoming third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman series. On Saturday, unconfirmed reports surfaced that Robin Williams may be the man for the role of Dr. Hugo Strange.While no plot details have been officially released, many insiders have suggested that in the film, psychotic psychologist Dr. Strange will be tapped by the Gotham police forces to help track and capture Batman (Christian Bale).
Williams was up for roles in previous Batman films in the 1990s, but never accepted the offers. However, last summer he told reporters that he'd love to work in Nolan's Batman universe. "I would do Batman in a second," he said. "I'd play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath Ledger as the villain and I'm a little hairy for tights."

I think this has potential. Robin is always thought up as comic (naturally), but he is underratted for dramatic work when the writing is good.
I think it would be awesome.
Gah, I've always hated him. Not liking the casting decisions that Nolan is coming up with, especially compared to the brilliant casting of previous villians.

Anyone who hates robim williams is just jealous and has no open mind only open mouth to - suck it - with , wiliams would be great in the right character role, heath ledger never was anticipated to give such a act as he did it was mind blowing as is robin williams talents when he uses them properly, I cant wait to se new batman movie dark night will rise in 3D , hellz yeah !
Anyone who thinks Robin Williams can't play a villain hasn't seen "Insomnia" or "One Hour Photo." Great choice for Strange. And to the people questioning Nolan's decisions: I bet none of you liked the initial casting of Heath Ledger, either. No one did at the time.

Robin Williams is a fine actor and could carry the role. Only thing he, he's such a known quantity that his casting could take you out of the movie -- that is, you keep thinking of Robin Williams onscreen instead of the character.
But here's a bigger concern: Will RW demand they change the title from "The Dark Knight Rises" to "Batman and Robin"?
Robin Williams is an incredible dramatic actor. Great choice, and I read Batman.
Can he pull off the bald look?
This has the odor of "Schumacher Villain Overkill" ala "Batman and Robin"...or even the worst-of-the-trilogy "Spiderman 3".
Bane, Hugo Strange AND Catwomen??? I love Nolan but...this doesn't sound good.
