Pon Farr: Dilbert needs an empathetic mate, quick!

Nerds everywhere are excited about some "Star Trek"/"Dilbert" synergy Tuesday (Jan. 11), as the "Dilbert" cartoon of the day mentions Pon Farr, a fictional disease from the "Star Trek" canon.

Pon Farr is a psychophysical condition wherein Vulcans go into heat every seven years. It is accompanied by a blood fever and, if the Vulcans cannot find someone to mate with whom they are empathically bonded, the Vulcans become violent and eventually die.

Poor Dilbert. An engineer and no Pon Farr vaccination.
