'No Strings Attached' snares audiences, wins weekend box office

no-strings-box-office.jpgConcern over Oscar frontrunner Natalie Portman slumming it in a romantic comedy will likely diminish now that it has a weekend win under its belt.

Portman and Ashton Kutcher's "No Strings Attached" is on track to win the weekend, with an estimated $20.3 million in ticket sales.

Their closest competition, "The Green Hornet," fell 46 percent from its winning weekend, bringing in an additional $18.1. New award season darling "The King's Speech" was the only entry in the top 10 to not drop in sales from one week to the other.

Let's give a nod to The Fighter. It only dropped 11% from last weekend, grossed another 4.5 million and is sitting at approx. 75 million dollars all on the strength of strong word of mouth. The Fighter is a box office champ.
