Keith Olbermann exit: Rachel Maddow and Bill Maher react
Just about 15 minutes after Keith Olbermann announced, on air, that he's parting ways with MSNBC, his (now former) colleague Rachel Maddow sat down for the panel on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher."
They didn't linger on the topic for long, but Maddow does offer some explanation for the departure as for how she sees it.
"It's been a big day at MSNBC," says Maddow. "I know very little -- all I know that it was between Keith and the company. It didn't involve any of the rest of us, and he was really gracious and nice when he left."
Maher laughs off the idea of an amicable departure, referencing "Countdown's" recent retooling.
Maddow also says that her contract will safely prevent her from having to expand her own show to two hours.
Watch the full clip below, with some predictably NSFW language from Mr. Maher:

Now that Comcast has taken control, I predict they will look to move MSNBC in a new direction. Maddow & co.'s days may be numbered as well.
He didn't leave because he's a liberal, we'll learn the truth soon. My guess is he was bangin an intern.
More libs bite the dust. How sweet it is !!!
love Keith he is the best and i'll watch him again if he makes a new show anywhere else. i agree with Maher!! libs are too nice!! we should get more mean like the righties.
mean like the righties who you trying to kid when you look at most of the stuff happening in the news and on the radio it is not the right that are being mean as you put it.
better take a bit of an educated look at things again
Keith Olbermann was the most talented in the business. MSNBC made a huge mistake. CNN here I come.
Time for major changes at MSNBC and the other networks and this is just one of many to come and Maddow might be next to go.
They need to stop giving OUR MONEY to PBS and NEA so they can turn around and LIE and OFFEND us.
We are totally outraged by Kieth Olbermann's departure. We watched him from the beginning and he was always right for us. No one can replace him. The other anchors are poor copies of him at the best. We want him back. It is a total disgrace. There is no reliable voice for liberals. He was also compassionate, starting the fund for the free clinic.
Only started watching MSNBC after seeing Olbermann's show. Was a follower for many years. Guess I will now be a follower of whereever Keith goes and CNN. I imagine all Keith's followers will leave MSNBC.
Big, Big Mistake!
