Katie Holmes' 'The Son of No One' bombs at Sundance, guests flee screening

katie-holmes-sundance.jpg.jpgLess than one month into 2011 and it's becoming quite clear that it might not be Katie Holmes' year.

Her hyped portrayal of Jackie O in "The Kennedys" fell out of favor at The History Channel, before quickly being snubbed by most other pay cable networks, and now her big showing at Sundance is prompting the label of "bomb" from multiple outlets.

The Hollywood Reporter says that a Jan. 24 screening of Holmes' "The Son of No One" -- which also includes Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Channing Tatum -- started without a packed house and ended with an even smaller audience.

"The negative response went beyond the walkouts," writes THR of the crime thriller's awkward debut. "One viewer's attempt to begin applause after the lights came up drew almost no takers."

And things could still get a lot worse for "The Son of No One" before the week is up. The film is set to officially premiere of Jan. 28 as a part of the closing night festivities.

Oh come on. Hey Mikey O'Connell...vendetta much on Katie Holmes....LMAO!!!!!

This is obviously not a a Katie Homes film. Hilarious!!!!

It doesn't look like the worst movie ever made...I believe John Travolta holds title with Battlefield Earth. In addition, seems to be a Channing Tatum flop (I guess he needs to hope for step up 4) not a Katie Holmes flop. She is a decent actress, you need to quite hating on her, just because of who she is married to. Actors should not be judged based on their politics, religion or spouses. Get over it Mr. O'Connell.

Why is this article aimed at Katie Holmes? What about the other actors? Was there something specific about her performance? She is not even a main character? She acted fairly good in the trailer...? Rewrite needed for this aritcle..

How exactly does Channing Tatum get work? He's just awful... He look and acts like a total meat head...Oh Hollywood, you're such a joke...

I agree with DarenG. This sounds like a personal vendetta. The article you reference does not even mention Katie Holmes and yet you prefaced it with:
"Her hyped portrayal of Jackie O in "The Kennedys" fell out of favor at The History Channel"

And then you proceed to dump this movie on her shoulders despite the bigger names attached to it.

I'm no fan myself, but this is shoddy reporting.

I think it looks like a good movie. I would definately go see it. You must have a vendetta against Katie Holmes. Get over it.

Why target Katie Holmes? This film looks like an ensemble to me. If anyone, target Al Pacino or "Meathead," they look more like they have more screen time... Mr. O'Connell, try a little harder next time, ok?

Holmes has third billing. If this flops it really is no reflection on her.

I agree with the others, why is this not billed as an Al Pacino flop. He's a much bigger name. Katie Holmes is married to a big name star but she is not trying to carry pictures. Also, I suspect the not so quiet trouncing of the Kennedy movie had a lot less to do with her acting and much, much more to do with the Kennedy family influence. I live in MA and still see the reverence of all things Kennedy despite the fact that they are flawed individuals like all of us.

holmes is 5th billed. and if it's any consolation, she was great in "extra man" and her last 5 movies, for that matter.
