John Edwards reportedly engaged to Rielle Hunter

According to the National Enquirer, former presidential candidate John Edwards has proposed to his mistress Rielle Hunter, a mere four weeks after his estranged wife's Elizabeth Edwards death. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise, considering he had the audacity to have the affair in the first place and has a 2-year-old daughter Frances because of it, but considering the public nature of Elizabeth's final days and reports that he was with the family at her bedside when she passed, we still find this a tad unseemly. Perhaps he was mad at being left out of Elizabeth's will.
The Enquirer is also reporting that on a holiday family trip where Rielle and John told his children of the engagement, Rielle asked the younger kids Jack and Emma Claire to call her "mommy." We sincerely hope that is not true because if it is ... gross.
The source is a the National Enquirer, yes, but remember that they broke the Edwards affair scandal back in 2007. There was even speculation the Enquirer would receive a Pulitzer for breaking that story, as the Pulitzer committee accepted the Enquirer's work on the Edwards scandal into its 2010 submissions. The tabloid competed in two categories, Investigative Reporting and National News Reporting, and while it was not selected as a finalist, it was still under consideration.

he is horrible...if he is engaged that is bad but if he asked his kids to call her mommy, i dont even have words to say what that is. That women will never be their mommy let alone a month later...he makes me sick
John Edwards is a sorry SOB
Wow, just when you think this story can't add too it's BLECK factor, John decides to get engaged a few weeks after his wife's death.
While the surviving children are still grieving.
Rarely have I ever been as disappointed in a human being as I have been in him. If ANY part of this story is true, he would be better off just leaving the country and living elsewhere with this skank.
Its the National Enquirer! They may get a story right once but not twice.
Consider the source. Perhaps he loves the woman perhaps they are engaged, perhaps Elizabeth was not the saint she is portrayed to be by her death. Perhaps we should leave them all alone. Men and women have affairs every day, they happen to be public figures who can be jabbed at and ridiculed in public forums. But I do have to agree if the "call me mommy" statement is true- that would be in poor taste even if Elizabeth had been dead for years.
i don't believe the thing about asking the kids to call her "mommmy." that BS stinks from a mile away, puh-lease.
they are suited for each other, a perfect match of no class, no conscience and no character.
the only good thing is that Cate is there to protect the 2 younger children and should immediately file to become their legal guardian and keep them as far as possible away from their sperm donor father
