Hair flairs: Do we seriously think Oprah would ever wear these?
Leave it to Oprah Winfrey to use a "Where are they now?" show to set off a fashion trend.Friday (Jan. 28), Oprah revisited some of the most memorable couples who have appeared on her show over the years, including Trina Marr whose husband Trevor was obsessed back in 2004 with the fact that she had gained weight.
While happy that Trina walked off the stage back then, dumped the husband and then dumped the weight (thanks to Roller Derby), Oprah was a bit distracted by the sparkly pieces of tinsel in Trina's hair. Oprah said she wanted some for herself and Trina replied that she could help her out because she just so happens that she owns the company -- Hair Flairs -- that produces them.
A double high-five followed.
Let's hope Oprah was just being nice because nothing says "stripper" like sparkly hair highlights (we don't care if Beyonce wears them). OK, that's not true. She could opt for the Hair Crystalz instead.

Why can't a woman wear something sparkly or glitzy without being referred to as a stripper? I'm almost sure that remark was made by a man. I applaud Trina Marr for walking out on her jerk of a husband and being a sucessful business woman and a wonderful mother to her children. Also, it shows what kind of person you are by saying it's cool for Beyonce to wear them, she is so pretty and is a superstar after all. Again it is sad that a person who is overweight can't be a member of this planet because other people are uncomfortable with it. Look in the mirror, are you perfect? I know I'm not.
Interesting that you went to Oprah can't wear them because she's fat Jeane. Shows where your bias is. Oprah shouldn't wear them because she's pushing 60 and has some class. Same reason she shouldn't wear half of what shows up on the red carpet. And sparkles are fine in their place. Is that place on a daytime talk show when you're talking about your crappy marriage that you already paraded in front of the country and now want to work in a plug for your business? Not really.
I wonder why every article I have read today about these hair flairs are so negative! I happen to love these things. No I haven't tried them yet, but I plan to.
I re-read my comment and did not find that I wrote anything about Oprah. Personally I think she is the greatest. All I'm saying is if a person wants to wear something different she or he shouldn't be chastised for it. Work in a plug? Oprah asked Trina Marr what was in her hair and she told Oprah what it was; simple as that. Will Oprah wear them? Probably not but it was kind of her to comment on them. Yes Oprah has class that is why she didn't make a rude crack like "Nothing says "stripper", etc.
I agree with Melissa. Too many people take advantage of Oprah's celebrity status and generosity and USE her to promote some new product they have. Trina Marr was there to update Oprah on her marriage, not to make money off Oprah. You didn't see anyone else trying to push their product or flip their hair trying to get Oprah's attention. I loved her and thought a lot about her until she did that.
I didn't see Trina push anything. Oprah mentioned it first and then was the one who brought it back up. It's not like Trina spouted off her website address or anything. People are far too easy to criticize. Why not be happy for this girl that she's created something great for herself. Jealous maybe?
Oh, and the taking advantage of Oprah comment is hysterical. Do you actually think ANYTHING happens on that show that she doesn't want to happen? Even if anything did happen she didn't like during filming, they edit those shows to pieces. Oprah is in complete control, she does not get taken advantage of. But thanks for the chuckle.
Brill Bundy, you are just a long nosed, pucker mounthed jealous, old snob. You claim that only a stripper would wear the Hair Flairs. Of course YOU wouldn't wear them. No matter how many sparkles you could wear in your hair, it won't change the catty shrew that you are and it definitely WON'T make you any prettier, it would just draw attention to the fact that you're an Al Bundy look-alike. But you already know that because that's why your're being so catty. Be sure & NOT go out in the rain. With your nose that high in the air, you'll drown for sure!
I think Oprah or any other fun loving person would look nice with Hair Flairs in thier hair. Nothing's wrong with a little glitter. I'm a young 63 that still looks like I'm 45 & I'd LOVE to wear them in my blonde hair just for the fun of it. We can't all be sour pussed old snobs like you & I certainly hope that no one listens to your twisted opinion.
Well I am 62 and am going to get some just for the fun of it. I am not a stripper look a like- just a plain old Grandma and Just like to have fun. Might just wear them on girl's weekend - who knows. I EVEN put a little red sometimes in my grey hair !! Bad me!! I hope Oprah gets some AND wears them. - COOL.
