Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais picks celebrity targets, dresses like Simon Cowell

In anticipation of his Jan. 16 hosting duties at the Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais stops by the Jan. 13 broadcast of "Ellen." And in addition to teasing some of the topics he has planned for the award show, Gervais appears in a black v-neck for the the umpteenth time in we don't know how long.

Admittedly svelter these days, Gervais has been rocking the all-black ensemble quite a bit lately, leading us to believe that he's been sharing a closet -- or at least trips to the mall -- with Simon Cowell.

He'll be right at home with all the suits on Sunday, where Gervais tells Ellen DeGeneres that a few targets are already high on his list.

"Well, Charlie Sheen has obviously put his head above the power pit," says Gervais. "Like last year, Mel Gibson was a gift from the comedy god. So yeah, that'd be two good people out of the audience. Mel Gibson. Charlie Sheen. OJ Simpson."

We don't anticipate seeing any of the three at the show, but Gervais wants to stick to easy targets all the same. "I only go for the weak and the feeble," he says. "I'm not going to have a go at Russel Crowe or Mickey Rourke. Mickey Rooney maybe. Betty White, I'm not scared of her. You've gotta to choose your targets wisely."

I normally love Brit humor but I found him just mean most of the time. All the people who says celebs deserve it? This is an award show about their performances in movies not a personal attack vehicle. The Tim Allen, Bruce Willis comments, etc. were just mean and pointless. I was hoping to watch this as a relaxing evening but as long as he is host, I have watched my last one. One trick pony! As Bill Cosby said about comedy, it is easy to be mean and just rip people but the true comedian doesn't need those crutches. He can do it with a wink and a nod.... too bad Ricky didn't work on his schtick more.
