Former 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi and Folgers want to hear your jingle
Do you wake up with catchy jingles in your head? Or do you fancy yourself quite the songwriter? If so, Folgers and Kara DioGuardi want you. The Grammy-nominated songwriter and former "American Idol" judge has signed on for her second year with Folgers' "The Best Part of Waking Up" jingle contest.
"I teamed up with them again and we had such a success last year," DioGuardi tells Zap2it. "We're asking people to go out and put a new twist on that classic jingle."
Aspiring jingle writers can enter the contest now at bestpartofwakinup.com through March 1, 2011. Five finalists will move on to compete in New York City in front of DioGuardi and a panel of judges.
The winner will receive $25,000, appear in a Folgers commercial and they'll get a private mentoring session with DioGuardi, whose company, Arthouse Entertainment, is behind songs performed by Season 4 "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Flo Rida. And this summer, she's appearing in her new songwriting competition on Bravo called "Platinum Hit."
"I got to spend some time with Ethan Thompson, who won last year. And I got to listen to his songs and give him suggestions," she says. "And to see his brain working in that way. The craft of music you just don't know intrinsically. You have to learn it. And the more you're around people who know it, the better you become."
