Christina Scavo, Shannon O'Toole sue Brett Favre, New York Jets
Brett Favre came away mostly unscathed in the NFL's investigation of whether he acted inappropriately to a female employee of the New York Jets. But now he's facing another issue from his lone year with the team.Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole, who had worked as massage therapists for the team, are suing Favre and the Jets, claiming they lost work with the club after complaining about suggestive text messages from Favre. They're seeking damages for sexual harassment and employment discrimination, the AP reports.
The suit comes five days after the NFL fined Favre $50,000 for being uncooperative in its investigation into whether he acted inappropriately toward Jenn Sterger, who worked as a sideline reporter for the Jets when Favre was with the team in 2008. Favre reportedly sent lewd photos to Sterger and left her voicemails asking her to "come by" his hotel room.
Another text read, "Kinda lonely tonight. I guess I have bad intentions."
The Jets and Favre -- who sat out the last two games of his 20th NFL season with a concussion and has hinted he's retiring (for what that's worth) -- haven't commented on the suit. Scavo and O'Toole say in the lawsuit that after they complained about the texts, the Jets massage coordinator told them they'd never work for the team again.
