Charlie Sheen checks into rehab, 'Two and a Half Men' goes on hiatus

charlie-sheen-cbs.jpgCharlie Sheen checked into a rehab facility on Friday (Jan. 28), and consequently his TV show, "Two and a Half Men," is stopping production until he returns.

Sheen -- who was hospitalized earlier this week -- "voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today," his publicist, Stan Rosenfield, says in a statement. "He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern."

Rosenfield's statement was quickly followed by one from "Two and a Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre and the show's studio and network, Warner Bros. and CBS. "Due to Charlie Sheen's decision to enter a rehabilitation center, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing 'Two and a Half Men' on production hiatus," it reads. "We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision."

"Two and a Half Men" has just two new episodes ready to go at the moment; they're currently scheduled to air on Feb. 7 and 14. The show was scheduled to go back into production next week; that will obviously be delayed, but we don't know yet for how long.

Sheen's decision to enter rehab comes a day after he was hospitalized, reportedly for treatment of a hiatal hernia. Reports also say he was taken to the hospital after a 36-hour party that included several porn stars and a "briefcase full of cocaine."

This week's incident came a few weeks after a reported "epic bender" with three porn actresses in Las Vegas, which followed a trashed hotel room and hospital visit in New York in late October.

Sheen's family and friends have reportedly been urging him to seek treatment, but he had resisted until now.

Let the Man party! Live it up Charlie!

Seriously, this guy better get some help or his next stop is the grave, six feet under. CBS needs to let him finish off the last 6 episodes of this season and break ties with him once and for all.

He's got a problem, I commend CBS for sticking by him thus far but would understand if they decide to part ways with him. And since I don't hear about advertisers pulling out and not wanting to be associated with the show, that doesn't seem likely to happen.

I agree 100% with Sylvester. Charlie needs to surround himself with "No" men......get rid of all the "Yes" men.

I love that show, the writing is phenomenal. I really wish him well. He is so talented and its very sad to see him constantly 'searching' for some unattainable 'something else'in his life.

I don't understand why Two and a half Men was put on Hiatus. There are other actors on that show that could carry an episode or two, even the rest of the season if ness. Charlie on the show could go into rehab, and that would fit into the show just fine. Are the writers on "Men" unable to write a script without Charlie or unwilling? I feel the show should go on without Charlie, besides has Charlie won an emmy for that show??? I don't think so.

Charlie gets drunk AGAIN, which shuts down prouction of his show. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? When are people going to stop putting up with his self-indulgent binges? It seems that everyone is enabling him. Replace the drunk or stop production permanently. Let him hit rock bottom. He won't quit drinking until then.

The way I look at the Sheen situation. Two and Half Men has made a huge amount of money for CBS. Do u think any other network would ever deal with a star who was on such a drunken/drugged out binder? Only reason he has kept his job is because the shows financial success. Any other actor or situation they would be terminated.

Why are so many people surprised that his behavior is this way??
He's been this way on camera on 2.5 men since the 1st episode. He hasn't been acting, he's been playing himself.
I enjoy the show, am sure it's making a lot of $, but the writing is starting to get a little thin.
If they re-booted the show, the only one that could carry it is Berta.
