Arkansas store no longer protecting shoppers from Elton John
Apparently the Us Weekly cover featuring a beaming Elton John, partner David Furnish and new baby Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was considered "sexually provocative or too revealing" by one Arkansas-based supermarket chain.Rather than expose their customers to the image of a happy, healthy same-sex family, one Harp Food Store location covered the magazines with a sign reading, "Family shield to protect young Harps shoppers."
But the chain quickly unshielded the cover after complaints started pouring in from customers.
"Our true intention is not to offend anyone in our stores and this incident happened at just one of our 65 locations," said Harp Foods president Kim Eskew in an interview with CNN, "which, when brought to our attention, we reversed."
