"The Fighter" fought its way to six nominations in the major categories for the 2011 Academy Awards -- Best Supporting Actor for Christian Bale, two Best Supporting actress nominations in Melissa Leo and Amy Adams, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director for David O. Russell and Best Picture.

"The King's Speech" also took six major nominations -- Best Actor for Colin Firth, Best Supporting Actress for Helena Bonham Carter, Best Supporting Actor for Geoffrey Rush, Best Director for Tom Hooper, Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture.

"True Grit" is right behind, with five major category nods -- Best Actor for Jeff Bridges, Best Supporting Actress for Hailee Steinfeld, Best Screenplay and Director for Joel and Ethan Coen and Best Picture.

In the Best Supporting Actress category, "Black Swan" is conspicuously absent. Mila Kunis has been nominated for both the Critics Choice and Golden Globes, while Barbara Hershey got the BAFTA nomination, but neither one is included here. Also missing from Best Actor is Mark Wahlberg for "The Fighter" - the four leads from that movie (pictured above) have generally been nominated together.
