Shaquille O'Neal conducts the Boston Pops. That really happened.
Just call him the Big Maestro.Shaquille O'Neal -- Boston Celtics center, future NBA Hall of Famer, sometime rapper, actor and reality-show star -- added yet another facet to his career on Monday night (Dec. 20) when he conducted the Boston Pops orchestra.
Let's repeat that: Shaq conducted the Boston Pops. For real.
The Diesel led the orchestra for three songs, including the Pops' signature holiday song, "Sleigh Ride." He also was at the podium as the ensemble played the Jackson Five's "Can You Feel It" and Queen's "We Are the Champions." Alas, there was no Pops rendition of Fu-Schnickens' "What's Up Doc," which would have allowed Shaq-Fu to conduct and rap simultaneously.
The somewhat surreal video of the Big Aristotle in white tie and tails (custom-tailored, we're guessing, because Men's Wearhouse doesn't carry many rental tuxes for a 7-foot, 350-pound man) and conducting "Sleigh Ride" is below. The Celtics next play on Wednesday.
