Metrodome roof collapse is Brett Favre's Christmas miracle!

Late Saturday afternoon (Dec. 12), a blizzard began blanketing the Midwest with snow (we have 6 ft drifts outside our door). But in Minneapolis, it got so bad that the inflatable roof of the Metrodome collapsed. The storm dumped 17 inches of snow on the Twin Cities and the Teflon-coated dome of the 64,000-seat football stadium could not withstand the weight.

The Sunday game between the NFL's Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants has been postponed -- and it's Brett Favre's Christmas miracle! The Vikings QB told ESPN's Ed Werder Saturday night that he would not have been able to play in Sunday's game (Favre sustained a sprained right shoulder in last weekend's matchup with the Buffalo Bills).

Why is this a Christmas miracle for Favre? Because his consecutive-start streak is in jeopardy. Favre has started 297 consecutive games, more than any other player in NFL history.

Will one more day make a difference? That remains to be seen. The NFL is still looking for a place to hold the Giants-Vikings game Monday night and there is no word yet on when the game will be made up.

So Brett Favre can still start in his 298th straight game! Now there's just that pesky did-he-send-pics-of-his-penis-to-Jenn-Sterger scandal to deal with.
