The movie, directed by Jodie Foster and written by Kyle Killen ("Lone Star"), will open in limited release then and expand to more markets on April 8.
"The Beaver" stars Gibson as a man whose depression has cost him his family and his professional standing; he has a bit of a breakthrough when he starts communicating through a hand puppet that looks like a beaver (and sounds kind of like Michael Caine).
The movie has been in limbo for several months, since Gibson's voice-mail threats to Oksana Grigorieva, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his youngest child, were made public.

i'm glad the movie is coming out. it sounds like it could be good.
Mel is a legendary actor why wouldn't they release it.

I'm entirely miffed by all the hypocrisy and phony sanctimonious outrage surrounding Mel Gibson's recent debacle. In my lifetime, I don't think I've ever seen any actor/director come under such relentless scrutiny or wholesale character assasination by the media at large. With that said, Mel Gibson makes better movies than most and I'll continue to see his films as long as they continue to suprise and entertain me.
Regarding the Gibson fiasco, there seems to be a ton of hate masqerading as righteous indignation these days. Or, as one journalist noted, a lot of pent up anger finally finding a pretext to allow its release. Personally, I'm fed up with all the silly anti-Mel sentiment and I wish people would actually learn to think for themselves...
Don't expect the release date to be met. The stench following the anti-semite will force the studio to hold the release or go direct to dvd.
Mel Gibson is my favorite actor,
and I wish him well. He is the best.
Mel Gibson is a good natured person. Who hasn't had a broblem with the drink or a "nasty" spouse :) ? I love his movies , i'd see them any day. Give em hell mel !!!
